In November 2023, our #Trent1000 engine made history by powering the world's first 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) transatlantic flight by a commercial airline. The flight represented a major milestone for the entire aviation industry in its journey towards net zero carbon emissions and demonstrated the capability of SAF as a safe drop-in replacement for jet fuel. This week Virgin Atlantic headline report set out key findings, including how the use of 100% SAF saved the lifecycle equivalent of 95 tonnes of CO2, or 64% of the emissions of a standard London Heathrow to New York JFK flight.
