@mwl@io.mwl.io asked here - https://lnkd.in/dnfS_35U - a really important question. "What sort of career advice do #sysadmin folks need?" My take on the topic: Sometimes it is seen that an experienced sysadmin should continue the journey as team leader or some other management position ... and that is the path that I consciously did NOT took - because I do not want to spend the rest of my life in EXCEL or POWERPOINT bullshit ... or forcing my team members to fulfill some KPI or Yippee Ki Yay shit. I just continue as Consultant. As Architect. As Solution provider. Things like that. ... and I believe that was the most important career decision I made. Hope that helps.

Slawomir Wojciech Wojtczak, it's refreshing to see a passion for the craft over titles.

2moHere's mine, don't put people in positions they're not ready to do. A backup or disaster recovery plan takes time and planning, that's why it has the word "plan" in the title. It's not something you spring on someone to implement "to just do". Backups are not backups unless they're regularly tested, that's wishful thinking. Anyone that may be called upon in that situation should have already done it many times.
