Yesterday, Joe Olenka visited The Springfields Academy part of Reach South Academy Trust in Calne, Wiltshire, a school dedicated to supporting autistic pupils and those with speech, language, and communication needs. The academy's curriculum pathways are carefully structured and sequenced to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to deepen their understanding, retain what they learn, and apply it practically. This approach not only helps them achieve academic success but, more importantly, prepares them to lead safe, independent lives after leaving the academy. As part of this mission, Joe delivered several sessions focused on accessible employability skills, empowering the students to build confidence and prepare for their future careers. Joe said “Stepping out of my usual day-to-day comfort zone was such a rewarding experience! The students brought so many interesting and challenging questions and ideas to the table. It was great to share tips on structuring their CVs and prepping for interviews—I really enjoyed my time with them”.
