🌍♻️ Overview of Reloop's recent polling in Great Britain shows that 7 out of 10 people support the introduction of a deposit return scheme ♻️🌍 Compelling insights from recent surveys by TOMRA Collection are now also confirmed by Reloop. According to TOMRA's latest survey, 81% of respondents have already made changes to their lifestyle to help tackle climate change. Similarly, Reloop's polling in Great Britain reveals that 70% of the population supports the introduction of a deposit return scheme (#DRS) to tackle drinks litter and enhance recycling efforts! Why is this significant? 🔹 Environmental Impact: a DRS can significantly reduce the volume of litter in our streets, parks, and natural spaces. 🔹 Boost to recycling: encouraging the return of beverage containers ensures that more materials are recycled, contributing to a circular economy. 🔹 Public commitment: these findings demonstrate a significant commitment from the public towards environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change. Implementing a DRS could be a game-changer for our environment, aligning with our goals of reducing waste and promoting recycling. #StateofConnecticut #Trash #Recycling #Reduce #Reuse #Diversion #WasteWiki #SPRING #WasteConsortium #Accra #Nigeria #SouthAfrica #Ontario #Landfill #WTE #Anaerobic #EPA #Zoomlion #Knust #DEEP Connecticut, a state known for its environmental consciousness, is contradicting its values by exporting waste to other states, including Ohio. This practice not only harms the environment but also contributes to climate change, as Ohio's landfills are significant emitters of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Key facts: - (1) Connecticut exports approximately 40% of its waste to other states, including Ohio. - (2) Ohio's landfills are among the largest emitters of methane in the country. - (3) The infamous 1989 garbage barge saga highlighted the need for sustainable waste management practices. - (4) Connecticut spends significant resources ($$$) on maintaining closed landfills. - (5) The state's recycling rate of 35% falls short of the national average. - (6) Implementing a circular economy approach could create over 1,000 new jobs and generate $1.2 billion in economic benefits in Connecticut alone. It's time for Connecticut to prioritize waste reduction, increase recycling incentives, and educate communities about sustainable practices to create a healthier future. The future is ours. Garbage trucks have gone missing in cities around the world. In neighborhoods from London to Barcelona and Singapore to Seoul, their unmistakable sight, sound, and smell are notably absent. The reason? Trash has gone underground, whisked away through a hidden network of pneumatic pipes—no trucks, no noise, no stench. If this sounds like the future, it is. But this particular slice was invented in the 1960s by Swedish company Envac. Today, Envac's underground automated waste collection systems are expanding underneath global cities. Among the many benefits are: * Up to 90% reduction in carbon emissions * Safer and quieter neighborhoods * Better air quality * Higher recycling rates * Lower municipal operational costs * More street space for bike lanes, trees, park benches, sidewalk cafes and other urban amenities On Supercool this week, host Josh Dorfman speaks with Joakim Karlsson, CEO of Envac, to discover how Envac is taking waste to another dimension. Recycle Myers is back with another recycling nightmare —putting green waste like lawn clippings, trimmings, and gardening debris into your recycling bin! 🌿 Tossing green waste into the recycling can contaminate recyclables, causing the entire load to be sent to the landfill! 😱 Instead, compost your yard waste, use designated green waste bins, or take it to a local yard waste facility to keep our recycling clean and efficient. ♻️ #RecyclingNightmares #RecycleRight #AZRecycles

The demand seems to increase at the moment as there are 10 Portbin tides all working well in all 4 nations of The UK waters, taking out a large quantity of marine litter, that in some cases can be recycled, even the Portbin tide has got a % of recycled plastic in the main body. Has your marina or harbour been looking to reduce marine litter? insead of going round with a small boat and net to collect marine litter the Portbin tide will sit in a corner and only needs 230v to work 24/7 360 days a year and will collect marine litter. Why not get in contact with the Zwanny team to discuss we can even set up a meeting and advice what would be the best model and way to deal with marine litter. The Portbin tide is just one of the many solutions we offer that will help to keep your companies environment clean. #marinelitter #pollution #plastic #fastfoodwrapper #environment #harbour #council #city #marina

The lovely seaside town of #Granville Normandy got talked into #underground containers like others I reported upon last year in Spain and Amsterdam. The result is the same, a mess. Which of course is great for the #incineration industry. Only by #door to door collections will municipalities improve their waste sorting and recycling levels. All these #onstreet systems are an expensive transition to door to door which becomes inevitable in order to reach EU recycling targets.

💧♻️A nice headline recently regarding the Netherlands and their water recycling measures caught my attention. It said, "Dutch government plans to save drinking water includes greywater recycling." The article outlined the Dutch government's efforts to conserve potable water by suggesting that businesses and households cut down on their consumption and embrace greywater recycling. ✌🏽As someone who is involved in sustainability, as well as water and climate initiatives for businesses, I understand there's much that needs to be done on a corporate level. Additionally, individuals can make a significant impact. Every single action contributes; it's more than just a drop in the ocean... – every drop adds up.💧💦🌊 🌦️With summer weather being hot or wet in parts of Europe, collecting rainwater is a smart and quite easy move. My husband and I have installed a new rainwater barrel after our old wooden one became leaky and damaged by children’s bikes (different story 😉). Its large capacity astonishes me – just one rain shower fills it significantly, allowing us to irrigate our garden plants and trees extensively. 🌻💧 💡The take-home message here is clear: water conservation is becoming an increasingly central issue for governments, businesses, and citizens alike. And we can all play a part by finding ways in our own backyards and houses to save and recycle water. Check it out and try it. Tip: some municipalities offer subsidies or incentives to install rainwater harvesting vessels or plant more green to absorb and retain more rainwater. Hope you have a delightful summer! 🏖️🍀 Link to article mentioned: https://lnkd.in/eHuAtR-4
