When we’re less critical of our perceived flaws, it’s easier to take things in stride. We can acknowledge our mistakes and think constructively about how to work on them. Feeling ashamed, embarrassed, or even a little “stupid” at times is normal, but it’s important to cut ourselves some slack and strive to do better next time. We don’t have to be perfect. We can feel how we feel and don’t need to constantly “stay positive” or “believe in ourselves.” The path to feeling good about ourselves starts with being okay with ourselves. This shift in attitude makes a huge difference. We become less worried about how we look or come across and how everyone else sees us. By being less concerned with trying to feel a certain way, we can engage with the world as we are, leading to other rewards and a more fulfilling life. At the Flatiron Center for Psychotherapy, we help you embrace self-compassion and engage with the world authentically. Reach out today to start your journey towards a healthier self-perception. #FlatironCenter #Psychotherapy #SelfCompassion #MentalHealth #AuthenticLiving #SelfAcceptance https://lnkd.in/dq6ZXhbu

Do you ever find yourself getting caught up in your own thoughts and emotions? It's a common experience, but one that can be challenging to manage. The core skill of defusion from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be incredibly helpful in these situations. Defusion involves recognizing our thoughts and feelings as just mental events, rather than getting entangled with them. Through regular practice, we can cultivate the ability to step back and observe our inner experiences with a sense of distance and curiosity. This can provide a valuable shift in perspective, allowing us to respond more flexibly and effectively, rather than getting caught up in unhelpful patterns. If you're struggling to navigate challenging thoughts and emotions, let's explore the practice of defusion together. #MentalHealthMatters #ACTTherapy #EmotionalWellbeing #therapy #psychotherapy #therapyworks #mentalhealth #practicemakesperfect #thoughts #emotions

Lacanian psychoanalysis reveals the paradox of social media as a space of hyper-connectivity yet profound alienation. Social media creates a "reality" constructed from idealized images, leading to a collective fantasy that obscures genuine human connection. This aligns with Lacan's notions of the Imaginary and Symbolic, where the individuals desire is mediated through a distorted perception of the Other. Users often experience disconnection despite the illusion of closeness, reinforcing Lacan's idea of the "wall of language" that separates true communication from superficial interaction. What do you think? Do you think social media has connected us and has it's benefits or do you think we are slowly loosing touch with real human connection? #psychoanalysis #psychotherapy #psychotherapydublin #lacan #counselling #freud #mentalhealth #counsellingdublin #therapy #dublin2 #unconscious #freeassociation #wellbeing #therapeutic #wellness #Anxiety #Depression #Dublintherapist #onlinetherapy #socialmedia #Isolation #connection #humanity

This quote reminds us that healing is not always a smooth, upward climb—it’s filled with ups and downs, setbacks, and breakthroughs. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed or discouraged sometimes, and that’s okay. Every challenge you face is an opportunity to build resilience and grow stronger. It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t follow a straight line, and setbacks are not failures—they’re stepping stones. Embracing the fact that "it’s okay not to be okay" allows us to show ourselves compassion and understand that moments of struggle are part of the process. At Journey Psychology, we believe that healing involves patience and self-kindness. Each step, no matter how small or difficult, brings you closer to a stronger, more resilient version of yourself. You don’t have to walk this path alone— we’re here to support you every step of the way. When you verbalise your emotions, it activates different parts of your brain, helping you process and understand your experiences better. This is known as "affect labelling." Here’s how it works: 🌪️➡️🌤️ Emotional Regulation: Naming your emotions reduces their intensity, making them easier to manage. 🧘♀️🌿 Stress Reduction: Talking about your feelings can lower stress hormones, promoting a sense of calm. 🧩💡 Improved Mental Clarity: Expressing your thoughts helps organise them, leading to clearer thinking and better decision-making. 🤝❤️ Stronger Connections: Sharing your feelings can deepen your relationships by fostering understanding and empathy. Therapy provides a safe space to explore and articulate your emotions, leading to profound psychological benefits. 🌟 ☎️ Contact us for more information on how we can support you or a loved one. 📆 We currently have availability for reduced-fee and after-hours appointments. #calmspacepsychologyservices #mentalhealth #psychology #psychologist #counselling #psychologyfacts #mentalhealthcare #mentalhealthsupport #neurodivergence #relationshipcounselling #mentalwellness #ChildTherapy #immediateavailability #Jimboomba #PsychologyServices #childpsychology #traumainformedcare #PsychologicalTesting #counsellor #EverydayWellness #CalmSpacePsychology #adolescenttherapy #parenting #grouptherapy #couplestherapy
