Section 80g of the Income Tax Act presents tax deductions to people and entities for donations made to permitted charitable organizations in India. Your aid donation and tax money probably ends up with the humanitarian products being sold on the black market. In the below report, the Aseel team literally goes through a black market in Kabul where the World Food Programme, and all other major humanitarian organization products are sold. This is the problem of our times, we think we don’t have enough funds to feed people living in humanitarian conditions, the reality is our systems are broken, this is not a resources problem, it’s a transparency problem. Think twice before you donate next time, or even better, choose a system that reports directly back to you with a proof of delivery like Aseel.

Do you consider yourself a charitable person? How does where you live compare to 142 other countries? I found this data really interesting. The Charities Aid Foundation, based on a Gallup 2023 survey of more than 145,000 respondents from 142 countries, examined the percentage of people who donated money to charity in the past month. The highest numbers of monetary donations were recorded in Indonesia – 90%, Myanmar – 78% and Malta – 74%. The lowest figures were recorded in Georgia, Botswana – 6%, in Tunisia and Yemen –7%.
