Do you consider yourself a charitable person? How does where you live compare to 142 other countries? I found this data really interesting. The Charities Aid Foundation, based on a Gallup 2023 survey of more than 145,000 respondents from 142 countries, examined the percentage of people who donated money to charity in the past month. The highest numbers of monetary donations were recorded in Indonesia – 90%, Myanmar – 78% and Malta – 74%. The lowest figures were recorded in Georgia, Botswana – 6%, in Tunisia and Yemen –7%. Islamic finance experts advise people to choose Sharia-compliant institutions for Zakat and charity. Some organizations collect donations but invest them in interest-based ways, against Islamic rules. Donors should research recipients, especially hospitals and NGOs. They should ask about fund collection, usage, and investments before giving. Organizations should make their financial records public and get Sharia audits. People donate during Ramadan, but they should avoid institutions using interest-based investments. Zakat should go to deserving individuals first, then to organizations. Scholars warn against donating to non-Sharia-compliant organizations. #ShariaCompliantDonations #sparkpakistan

The Movements Trust believes social movements have the power to change the world - but they are excluded from many funding opportunities because so much funding is only available to registered charities, or to groups who have significant fundraising resources - meaning amazing social movements can struggle to mobilise and sustain their work. We are a new movement building intermediary, unique in that we partner with movements to provide a bridge so they can access funding - we have uncovered significant need within the movement world - we are very close to our milestone of unlocking £1M in funding and have 75 movements in our family. We have transferred funds for nearly 30 different donors, so we offer a valuable service to philanthropy. Importantly, our ethos is to keep our costs and fees low - so please consider contributing to our core operational costs so that we can continue supporting our amazing movements, like Lokiaka CDC who are working to secure Indigenous Women’s land rights in Niger Delta in Nigeria #socialmovements #peoplepower #fundorganising #reformphilanthropy https://lnkd.in/ezjV9jvs

As I've shared a few times before, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that we could build a school, let alone a school as beautiful as this one. In the video, you can see Yuri, who is part of Hai and oversees all the construction processes in Kenya. Building something in Kenya as a foreigner is SUCH a big challenge that every day is an adventure. But the important thing is that everything is going perfectly well. Today is a bonus day on Global Giving (the fundraising platform we use), and for every $100 donation, Global Giving donates an additional 40%. It's a donation with high value, but the important thing is to donate, regardless of the amount. In other words, if you want to help us finish the construction, donate any amount to the campaign for our new school. Let's finish the construction of the most beautiful school in Kabiria together <3 https://lnkd.in/dRtv3RnP Ass: Mariana - Hai Africa Founder. #bonusday #globalgiving

What gives people a reason to give? 🎁🫶 Our National Giving Study 2023 surveyed 1,951 respondents and 112 focus group participants to find out just that: how much, how often, and in what ways people in Singapore give, as well as what drives and holds back their giving behaviour. Those who were more likely to donate and volunteer are those: • who donated or volunteered as children; 👦🏽👧🏽 • are interested in social issues; 📰⚖️ • who participate actively in religious life; 🙏🏿🙌🏾 • and who trust charities and those outside their own social circles.🤝 We also found that some younger Singaporeans have taken to new, alternative ways of giving which require smaller time and financial commitments.
