As physical therapy professionals, we play a critical role in patient recovery. A recent case at NYU Langone Health highlights this: Cuban native Bert Ponce, who received lifesaving liver and lung transplants. His journey to recovery was not complete without focused physical therapy to rebuild strength, balance, and endurance. His story serves as a poignant reminder of our profession's valuable contribution to the healthcare industry. But there's more to it than just the clinical aspect. Have you considered how your physical therapy operations impact your facility's overall performance, patient satisfaction, and financial health? Are there overlooked opportunities to enhance these factors through better management of the physical therapy segment? It's time to reflect on your company's stance and consider embracing new insights. Connect with me, Jim Tomasin, MSPT, to explore possible solutions and realize the full potential of your physical therapy operations. #PhysicalTherapy #HealthcareIndustry #PatientSatisfaction

Physicians aren’t supposed to have favorite patients, but Tommy was special. He lived to 85 years old, navigating life with Cerebral Palsy, severe aspiration, and a wheelchair. His speech was limited, but his heart spoke volumes. Tommy loved to sing, and every visit with him ended with a joyful rendition of “You Are My Sunshine.” No matter my mood, he made me smile. Tommy taught me an invaluable lesson: the power of truly listening to patients. His body always presented a clinical puzzle—chronic abnormal labs, concerning chest X-rays. But Tommy knew himself better than anyone. If he didn’t sing, I knew something was wrong. His song became a marker of his well-being, a sign more telling than any lab report. He became somewhat of a legend in the Emergency Department. Whenever the ED physician called to discuss his condition, I’d always ask, “Did he sing to you?” Initially, they thought I was kidding. But when they returned to confirm he’d sung his favorite tune, “You Are My Sunshine,” I knew he was well enough to go home. That simple melody became a powerful indicator of his health. Tommy reminded me that while we spend hours listening to our patients, we sometimes miss the deeper story they’re trying to tell us. Subjective information—their song, their story, their signals—is just as critical as the data in front of us. In a world where time constraints in patient care are unavoidable, I try to never miss the opportunity to truly hear my patient’s song. To my fellow healthcare providers: Let’s inspire each other to embrace both the art and science of healing. #PatientCenteredCare #LessonsFromPatients #HealthcareInnovation #EmpathyInMedicine #DocGo

🩺Why History Taking is Key to Clinical Diagnosis ✨ 🌟 In clinical practice, a thorough patient history can provide up to 70-80% of the information needed for an accurate diagnosis! 🧩 While tests and imaging play a role, nothing quite replaces the power of a genuine conversation, where we learn the patient’s story, symptoms, and lifestyle. 🗣️❤️ Taking the time to listen carefully helps us narrow down potential diagnoses, guides further investigations, and, just as importantly, builds a foundation of trust with our patients. 🤝 Over the coming posts, I'll be sharing insights on the essentials of history-taking, from building rapport to asking the right questions. 📝 Mastering history-taking isn’t just a skill; it’s the heart of compassionate and effective care. ❤️ Stay tuned for more tips! 👨⚕️👩⚕️ #Healthcare #ClinicalSkills #PatientCare #MedicalEducation #HistoryTaking #ClinicalEducation #History #CMM
