The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has appointed the inaugural board of directors for its first ever agency-related foundation. The Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation (#FESI), authorized through the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act, is an independent non-profit entity that supports DOE in its critical mission to ensure America's continued security and prosperity through transformative #science and #technology solutions for addressing #energy and #environmental challenges. Once established, FESI will help accelerate the #commercialization of new and existing #energy #technologies by raising and investing funds through engagements with the private sector and philanthropic communities. The Foundation will help #DOE provide additional resources, tools, and capacities for potential partners and communities across the country—supporting solutions-driven research and innovation that strengthens America’s energy and national security while helping achieve the Biden-Harris Administration's ambitious clean energy goals.

Solarize the Triad is gaining some serious momentum, y'all ☀️ Since kicking off in July, this group purchasing campaign has made a big effort make solar more accessible and affordable for local residents, non-profits, and businesses. Here are some of the results ⬇️ 👉 $1.25 MILLION in new clean energy investment 👉 Nearly 300 Triad families, small businesses, and non-profits involved 👉 Over 50 new solar and back-up battery projects under contract The enrollment deadline for individuals, businesses, and nonprofits is closing soon, but the impact will last decades. This initiative will mitigate more than 1 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually, keep millions of dollars in energy savings in our local economy, and lead to even more new green jobs in our region. This program is doing amazing things here in our community, but there's not much time left to be part of this historic campaign. Here are a few fantastic ones to help shed some light on what is available right now: -         The Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust (ORIT) has launched a £50,000 funding programme to support projects that enhance the environment and benefit communities, as part of the ‘Just Transition’ to clean energy. Grant requests can be up to a maximum of £10,000, for projects that start after 2 September 2024. -   The 2024 Cinnamon Incubator Competition is looking for social action projects or initiatives helping local communities respond to current challenges that it can help grow and replicate through churches. A £20,000 development grant will be awarded to one winning project, with five places available on the Cinnamon Incubator Programme for the projects that reach the final. Potential funders and philanthropists will also be invited to meet the projects at the final. -         The €35 million PEACEPLUS investment Area 1.3 Building Positive Relations is now open for applications. This funding stream invites applications for projects that will promote positive relations characterised by respect, celebrate cultural diversity, and encourage people to live, learn and socialise together. The Programme places particular emphasis on providing support to those most marginalised within our communities. It aims is to build relationships based on a greater understanding of those from different cultural backgrounds, and to ensure everyone feels part of a wider, more diverse community.
