💡 Thrilled to share a captivating moment from the ALSC Europe 2024 conference, where Oliver Bronder, managing director of vehicle logistics at VW Group Logistics, sat down with Christopher Ludwig, Chief Content Officer, Automotive Logistics & Ultima Media, for our Red Sofa interview to discuss how logistics has transformed into a strategic advantage, driven by the goal of improving reliability for the end customer after the disruption of the last few years. Bronder, a keynote speaker at this year's conference, says that the most important lesson that VW Group has learned over the recent period of supply chain crisis is problem solving and how to work more collaboratively across functions within the company. That is enabling VW Group Logistics to make decisions on how to solve issues in the new normal of disruption more quickly. Bronder adds VW Group Logistics is coming out of the crisis with a clear agenda for decarbonising logistics in three areas – increasing train capacity powered by green electricity for vehicle and battery shipments, adopting electric trucks and, most importantly using LNG ships, which it already does. The division is looking ahead now to the use of synthetic fuels, with long-term plans for ammonia, to power vessels, a move Bronder is very optimistic about. 🔗 CHECK OUT THE HIGHLIGHTS AND OUR LIVE BLOG FROM THE ALSC EUROPE 2024 EVENT - https://lnkd.in/eNbQU7ks Daniel Unterburger Lars Bäumann David Schmidtheisler Simon Motter Volkswagen Group VOLKSWAGEN KONZERNLOGISTIK GMBH & CO OHG #Volkswagen #AutomotiveLogistics #SupplyChainInnovation #FutureOfMobility #ALSCLIVE

Yesterday, I met with James Chai, the assistant chairman for the CCPIT Automotive Subcouncil. We had an in-depth discussion about the challenges and opportunities that Mexico is encountering with the arrival of Chinese car manufacturers. Some of the challenges we touched on include the competitive pressure on local manufacturers, the need for infrastructure improvements, and the potential impact on labor markets. On the other hand, we also discussed the opportunities such as the potential for increased foreign investment, technology transfer, and the creation of new jobs. This influx of Chinese car manufacturers could also drive innovation and elevate Mexico's position in the global automotive market.
