About us
Leyland Trucks operates from one of Europe’s most advanced truck assembly facilities, the Leyland Assembly Plant in Lancashire. Employing approximately 1,300 people, we manufacture the full range of DAF product, exporting around 40% worldwide. We also design the XB truck, with a team of skilled engineers working from our cutting edge site. Leyland Trucks continues to support DAF’s excellent 29 years of consecutive UK market leadership. In 2021, we celebrated our 125 year anniversary of truck building and delivered the 500,000th vehicle to be built from our current facility.

At Leyland Trucks, we believe that supporting our community is as important as the quality trucks we produce. Through Leyland Trucks Helping Hand, our dedicated charity arm, we’re proud to strengthen local organisations that make a real difference – many of which touch the lives of our own people, their families, and their friends. As we reflect on 2024, we’re overwhelmed by what’s been achieved. Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, suppliers, and partners, we’ve raised a huge amount which has been distributed to lots of fantastic organisations. From our Charity Ball to the annual #LinkingLeyland event, selling our very own XB honey, and participating in the Leyland Festival, this year has truly been a testament to what we can accomplish together. One organisation particularly close to our hearts is Derian House Children's Hospice, which provides vital care and respite for over 400 babies, children, and young people each year. This holiday season, Helping Hand directed a £3,000 donation to Derian House – funds made possible thanks to our partners at DAF dealership Ford & Slater. With these funds, we delivered hundreds of gifts from the hospice’s Christmas Wish List, including chocolates, board games, fidget toys, and worry dolls, spreading festive joy to the children and their families. We also supported Derian House’s #SayMyChildsName campaign, funding 100 personalised stamps for bereaved families to include their child’s memory in Christmas cards – a deeply compassionate initiative at an emotional time of year. Organisations like St Catherine's Hospice, Lancashire, Rainbow Hub, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Key Unlocking Futures, North West Air Ambulance Charity, The Foxton and Heartbeat NWCC have also benefited this year, enabling them to continue their incredible work in our communities. But we’re not stopping here! With 2025 on the horizon, we’re ready to do even more – and we need our colleague's ideas to help us grow our impact. 👉 Know a local cause we can support? 👉 Have a fundraising idea? 👉 Want to join the Helping Hand committee? We’d love to hear from you! Come and speak to one of the Committee members. Together, we’re building a legacy of generosity and community spirit – and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved as a team. 📖 Read more about our support for Derian House Children's Hospice and their incredible work: https://hubs.li/Q030jZFQ0 #HelpingHand #GivingBack #CommunitySupport #Charity #LeylandTrucks

🎉 Celebrating 7,500 Continuous Improvement projects 🎉 We recently reached an incredible milestone: completing our 7,500th Continuous Improvement (CI) project since the programme began in 1999. From our first project, focused on "Track Uptime," to our latest milestone improving daily build sequence efficiency, CI has been at the heart of everything we do at Leyland Trucks. To mark the occasion and thank our colleagues for their outstanding contributions, we celebrated with cakes for all! 🎂 Highlights from our CI journey include: 🔧 137 training courses delivered to 730 team members. 📈 From 10 projects in 1999 to 7,500 today. ⚙️ Projects have tackled everything from robotic paint introduction to energy management and reducing bottlenecks. Our latest achievement, led by the Master Production Schedule and Industrial Engineering teams, reduced daily planning time while improving visibility and efficiency. It’s a perfect example of the innovation and teamwork that drive us forward. Here’s to the continued success of our CI programme – and to the people who make it all possible! #ContinuousImprovement #Innovation #Teamwork #LeylandTrucks #7500Projects #Celebration

Today, we’re marking International Men’s Day by welcoming two incredible organisations into our Leyland Plant to showcase the vital support and services they offer to our workforce. 🌟 #ANDYSMANCLUB This men’s suicide prevention charity offers free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online, including several in and around Lancashire. Their mission is to break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. Remember, #ITSOKAYTOTALK. 🌟 Longridge Men's Shed Providing a crucial support network, Longridge Men’s Shed is part of a UK-wide initiative encouraging people to connect, repair, and repurpose while tackling loneliness and isolation. Recently opened on Warwick Street in Longridge, it’s initially running sessions on Tuesdays from 5-9pm. At Leyland Trucks, we’re committed to supporting the wellbeing of our entire workforce. Today is all about creating connections, starting conversations, and celebrating the incredible individuals in our organisation. #InternationalMensDay #MensHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #CommunitySupport #LeylandTrucks
