"If that’s your only measure, staying ahead of your rival, whilst you’re fighting with each other, there are others who could be going past you, so I’ve always made a conscious effort to make the measure about how good we can be." The philosophy Ange Postecoglou brings to his football managing/ coaching. Same goes in business > focussing solely on your competitors distracts from the opportunity to stretch your own organisation to its limits in deeply delivering to your customers. Believe in your own vision and do the hard work to bring it fully to life. "I never believe your motivation should revolve around the demise of somebody else. Your motivation should be about yourself. I want to win because I want us to achieve something. I want us to progress. I want us to be in a position fighting for the title. That’s what drives me..." "If that’s your kind of measure, always peering over the back fence to see what your neighbour’s building, you could both have the worst houses in the street because everyone else is building beautiful places and you’re looking over the back fence.” "We can win on Sunday but it doesn’t mean we are title contenders this year. To be title contenders you’ve got to do it over the course of the whole year. That’s how I’m measuring ourselves. So we know we’ve still got some work to do... At the same time, we’re in a better position than we were 12 months ago to build on that. That has to be our aim, that in 12 months’ time we’re in a position where we are one of the contenders rather than trying to disrupt them." For the record Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 on the day, leading to this from Ange: “It’s about now over the course of time getting from where we are to where we want to get to. To do that we need to be absolutely laser focused on the details, the small things that get you from where we are to become a team that contends.” #leadership #strategytoexecution #innovation #thinkingoutsidethebox #digitalbusiness #digitaltransformation #datatransformation #aifirst #aitransformation #businesstransformation #enterprisetransformation #CCO #CMO #CDO #CDAO #buildingthefuture #daretolead #thinkingdifferently https://lnkd.in/gRgr2WPm

New Post: Blue Line up and froze due to some wire woes -Right in the middle of the evening rush, the Blue Line came to a sudden stop when it developed what the MBTA called a “catenary problem.” Bustitution started up between Bowdoin and Suffolk Downs and continued into the night. Multfam Cam reported at 7:28 p.m.: Avoid the Blue Line at all costs tonight. Absolute shit... Bustitution started up between Bowdoin and Suffolk Downs and continued into the night. Multfam Cam reported at 7:28 p.m.: Avoid the Blue Line at all costs tonight. Absolute shit show at Airport. Waited for a shuttle toward Bowdoin for 25 minutes, one came and dropped off about 100 yards away where no one was waiting, then nothing else. Guy on the walkie-talkie had no idea what was going on. Some busses are just sitting there, idling, driver doesn’t know where he’s going or when he’s leaving. Embarrassing even for the MBTA. Source link

Shady was a fantastic teacher on this course. These guys for me are the best, it's not teaching you a playlist of set pieces to copy and implement it's teaching you how to analyse and create your own ideas, using simple principles. From before using the course to the end of the course our set plays improved Set Pieces/ with shots Before (per 90) Total 26.73 - Shots 3.93 - % 14.61 After (per 90) Total 26.64 - Shots 5.55 - % 20.71 Corners / with shots Before (per 90) Total 6.00 - Shots 1.87 - % 32.78 After (per 90) Total 5.73 - Shots 2.64 - % 43.77 Free kicks/ with shots Before (per 90) Total 3.00 - Shots 0.53 - % 14.17 After (per 90) Total 2.27 - Shots 0.82 - % 37.12 Stats taken from Wyscout.

Some important points on how to play with feel and flow.
Major League Mental Performance Coach @ Cleveland Guardians | Maximizing Potential: Science-Backed Performance & Leadership Solutions for Executives, Coaches, and Athletes
I posted this before the first game of the season against Oakland. It feels ever more relevant to post again with the incredible opportunity the Cleveland Guardians have ahead of them.

Happy first weekend of football everyone! So I'm a big Sabremertics guy. I'm also a big NFL guy. For any NFL coaches out there listening to this take note: Do not return these punts. Do not try to catch these punts. Don't even have your players anywhere near the ball when it lands! Why? Returning punts is all about field position. The reason to fair catch is so the ball doesn't bounce towards your endzone to give you worse field position. This punting style is actually very difficult to read and catch. It's like a football version of a knuckleball. Your returners will drop it too many times to make it worthwhile. BUT Because of how it spins it has a very high likelihood of bouncing backwards. Meaning giving you better position than if you were to even try to return it. So NFL coaches who have the Rams on their schedule this season: DO NOT TOUCH these punts. The risk reward is terrible. You will have too many special teams turnovers to make fair catches / returns worthwhile. You heard it here first 😁 I'm betting on the Rams against the spread all season if no one listens to my advice. https://lnkd.in/eYuWx-Aq #nfl #specialteams #sabremetrics

First England match down and we won. Already there’s negative press about the team’s delivery and Southgate’s perhaps somewhat nervous inability to take decisions to sub players off sooner. With a strong team and a decent manager, it’s a wonder why we all feel nervous when it comes to watching England play. ⚽️ Could this feeling have been ingrained in us all for as long as we can remember due to the onslaught of post-match criticism? ⚽️ If so, when anticipated fault-finding out-weighs any kind of positivity or praise, this leads to a rise in self-defence, self-protection, and inability to act as one normally would. ⚽️ And if this is the impact it can have on us as mere spectators, then how the hell does this feel for Southgate and his team?! The societal norm is for our squad to play, only for the press to tear apart both team strategy and physical performance. Perhaps if this narrative changed, we would see the self-belief, confidence and decisive play that both team and manager are being so heavily criticised for not having? A part of having a growth mindset is about reflecting on where to improve whilst leveraging what did go well, so let’s also celebrate: ⭐️ Bellingham’s goal in less than 15 minutes play, relieving him of just some of the massive focus and pressure he’s been under! ⭐️ Pickford’s ability to keep a late equaliser at bay when we were almost home and dry! ⭐️ Ultimately a win! Stronger play in the first half, with lessons to learn moving forwards… → What are your thoughts on this? Did you enjoy the match? What do you think of the squad and their manager? Or are you here for the men in shorts? 😉 #mindset #confidence #motivation #encouragement #belief ______________________________
