In 2025, the DoD will be taking CJADC2 to another level with international exercises designed for dynamic, cross-domain data sharing in the field. Together with the U.K., Australia, and other allied partners, the DoD will be putting cross-domain collaboration to the test — taking vessels through different ports, quickly creating “data bridges” to dynamically share information with the right individuals, systems, and devices, at the right time. This represents a significant shift from traditional siloed military operations to a more integrated and collaborative approach across allied partners, improving responsiveness and adaptability in diverse and complex combat scenarios. US military tilts towards Open RAN and public macro networks The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has issued a strategy document setting out requirements for private 5G at military installations that may have some impact for enterprises more generally. The two key points are that both Open RAN and use of public macro 5G networks are strongly favored which could set the tone for further such deployments for US enterprises. Such reasons not surprisingly revolve around security for highly sensitive and classified applications, where dedicated private 5G might be preferred, although even then public networks should be in the frame. The relationship between security and Open RAN is more nuanced, with pros and cons on either side. #5G #OpenRAN #networks

The authors are spot-on: "The cyberspace expertise resident within each service is tailored to the unique mission and domain-specific requirements for the cyberspace elements supporting the warfighting platforms in the physical domains (land, air, maritime and space.)" Creating separate services creates bureaucratic barriers that induce friction into a situation where it is already rife. We should be simplifying the means of support for commanders rather than making them coordinate with other agencies who have their own interests and institutional cultures.

⭐️ Crucial Role of Synchronization & Timing in Defense Applications 🛡️ In the realm of defense, precision is paramount. Whether it's the navy vessel ⚓, radar system 📡, radio communication network 📻 or satellite ground station 🛰️, the need for highly accurate synchronization cannot be overstated. Why is Timing Synchronization Essential? Enhanced Coordination: Defense systems rely on synchronized data to function effectively. Accurate timing ensures that all components work together seamlessly, providing reliable and accurate information. Improved Detection and Response: in scenarios where every nanosecond counts, such as detecting and tracking threats, precise timing enables systems to perform critical detection missions with high accuracy. Operational Efficiency: systems like C5ISR (Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) depend on synchronized signals to maintain situational awareness and operational readiness. Scalability and Reliability: modern solutions allow for the distribution of sub-nanosecond timing over existing network infrastructures, ensuring scalability and resilience. As we continue to advance our defense capabilities, investing in robust timing & synchronization technologies is key to maintaining our edge and ensuring the safety and security of world around us. https://lnkd.in/gm_S7i6a https://lnkd.in/gBGUb8eb #Defense #Timing #Synchronization #RadarSystems #radars #Navy #RadioCommunication #SatelliteGroundStations #C5ISR #Technology #Innovation

In Texas, it’s about TIME! and pursue an assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing, or PNT, ecosystem to protect our networks and critical infrastructure operations from the effects of a GPS disruption. SHSU Institute for Homeland Security Program Executive Robert Crane and Director Walt Magnussen of the Texas A&M Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC) jointly presented on GPS Interference Impact to Public Safety at the Defense Coordinating Element Region VI’s Homeland Defense and Critical Infrastructure workshop in Fort Worth. Hosted by Army North, Defense Coordinating Element RGN VI, over 100 military, state, federal and private sector leaders discussed challenges and best practices for the defense of the Homeland. Thanks to Colonel Richard Ball and the entire defense coordinating staff for hosting the workshop and building consensus where possible. Building upon identified challenges and risks, TAMU and SHSU are teaming to lay a collaborative pathway for Texas to pursue assured, precise timing capabilities that will enhance critical infrastructure and networks’ resilience to GPS disruptions. The national Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) ecosystem heavily relies on GPS as the primary source of PNT services. GPS has been referred as “a significant single point of failure in our country” by a NSC official. Let’s keep the conversations going and step up actions here in Texas. Do you know your GPS dependencies? When everything is on the line, the US Army needs technology that’s fast, reliable—and secure. Let’s talk about how to make that happen, at AFCEA International TechNet Augusta 2024. In the face of increasingly sophisticated adversaries in cyberspace, the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and US Army require software for operations and decision-making that combines a simple and elegant digital experience with sophisticated threat protection. Security is Kinetic Data's highest priority, and we architected our software on the same principles as Zero Trust, while providing Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) and common access card (CAC) support. We've won projects on the strength of our security model. We’re battle-tested and proven, with more than a decade of implementing solutions for the Missile Defense Agency , Defense Information Systems Agency, the US Army, Army National Guard, and other branches of our armed services. Let’s connect at TechNet Augusta. Visit us at table T18 to talk about your issues and how our secure Digital Experience Platform (DXP) may be part of the answer. #TechNetAugusta #devsecops #eitaas #military #digitaltransformation cc Sergio A., Phillip Amey, Scott Anderson, Young Bang, Ed Barker, Linwood Barrett, Maria Barrett, Todd Boudreau, Gary Brito, Gary Brock, Michael Chappell, Ivan Alexander Chubb, Paul Craft, Ramil Francisco, Lisa Gandy, Leonel Garciga, Joshua gendron, Jason Hemingway
