Today is my last day at my favorite workplace to date, Shopmonkey. When I got recruited to join an auto shop management software team, I never imagined the deep colleague connections and friendships I would build. 🐒 To say that the culture of this company is a great one, would still not be doing it justice. Yet, like many fulfilling things in life, this chapter of my career has drawn to a close. As a career-driven individual and empath, I've learned the importance of choosing a path aligned with my goals, even if it means moving on from a company I genuinely love. I am immensely grateful for the valuable lessons learned from Shopmonkey's outstanding leaders. She expertly handles vendor relationships for new program launches and assortments while also coordinating information from vendors to all groups within the company. Whether it's understanding how print works on new assortments or overseeing our social media content, Ta-lia is a true multitasking pro. We asked Ta-lia a few questions to get to know her better: How do you like to celebrate your birthday? "I love celebrating my birthday with good food! I’m a foodie, so I enjoy exploring different culinary experiences—whether it’s trying a new restaurant or having a great meal with friends and family. It’s all about enjoying the moment with delicious food and great company." What are your hobbies or interests outside of work? "As a full-time travel soccer, baseball, and AAU mom, my time is mostly dedicated to supporting my kids in their sports activities. It’s a busy schedule, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Hopefully, one day I’ll have a bit more time for hobbies of my own!" What do you enjoy most about working at JAM+? "What I enjoy most about working at JAM+ is the passion and drive that everyone here shares. At SmartQ we’re pioneering some interesting initiatives at a scale that hasn’t been tried in the industry before. One of them is getting popular national food brands into mainstream office cafeteria space. It’s a part of our larger effort to transform cafeteria experiences. One way to keep people excited on a daily basis is to get their favourite brands into the cafeteria space depending on the theme or objective for the day. If it’s a fun Friday, we can get one of the popular pizza chains to set up a counter. If it’s about quashing the summer heat, we could get one of the beverage chains to offer their refreshing cold drinks. On the business front, every such brand today wants greater penetration which will lead to greater recognition and eventually consumption. Offices get them some of the highest frequency of sales, and if they could leverage that, they score a massive win. In fact, PatilKaki , a brand that was featured on Shark Tank, did over a lakh worth of sales in just one day from one location! With the scale at which we operate today (over 350 locations), we can ensure regular engagement with corporate spaces, and that’s helping us drive more such strategic partnerships. How should you spend $600K? Just eliminated over $600k in annual operating costs. You have to put it back in the biz though. How should you spend it? I met with a fast growing #quickservice brand from #Arizona this week. 18 locations and they are eager to take things to the next level. The goals for this brand coupled with the #technology challenges they are facing, are exactly the types of environments where my team thrives. Almost needed to pinch myself because the conversations were so good. The cherry on top was when they said this one little magic word…#KIOSK. They know the potential, aren’t afraid of the future, aaaaand they did the math. If they can eliminate just one cashier, earning $35k/yr, from each of their 18 stores, they can save and reinvest over $600k back into their business. - Expanding the brand - Improve the #techstack - Increase marketing and loyalty - Hire regional managers The list goes on and on. We are ALL addicted to our screens. Some more than others, but ALL addicted nonetheless. Why do #restaurants think their guests can’t handle a kiosk?

Happy 7-Eleven Day! For years this was a very special day for me. I can remember helping Franchisees and Store Managers prepare for 7-Eleven’s birthday and the flood of customers we would see. One of my best memories is a van load of 20 4 year olds coming into a store. Few things make a child happier than a slurpee on a hot day. Many days within the retail world are a grind. You do tasks that often feel meaningless because you do not see the direct impact that it has on the customer. As a business owner, or employee, if you have lost inspiration or a love for the work you do, get out of your normal routine and reconnect with your customer. You can find purpose in the grind when you see how your small and routine tasks contribute to solving problems for customers. Our lives a busy, hectic and stressful. Small things like buying a new shirt, drinking a Slurpee, or having your favorite candy can make all of the work worthwhile. If you are in retail, you bring joy, relief and comfort to people.
