Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the first employability summit organized by HR Management Hub. Nuggets on how to strategically navigate and penetrate the competitive job market were highlighted by the speakers Walemba Jay (MIHRM) - Award Winner 🥇🥇🥇 CHRP-K Nelson Ogudha (MIHRM) Richard J. Magoma. What came out is that the job seekers must show up for themselves. How would they achieve that? They ought to bring values that drive them as a professional. 1. Be able to articulate issues. Communication is the lifeline of an organization. 2. Show leadership. Be able to demonstrate how you can lead others. 3. Be organized and able to mobilize. 4. Dress well for an interview. Create a lasting impression by dressing well for an interview. 5. Be enthusiastic. Understand the assignment and be deliberate in your quest. 6. Have mentors. In my Fall course MGMT 5102 – Human Resources Management, taught by "Márcio Coelho " at "Buller School of Business - Providence UC " we have discussed what would be more prioritised by firms/companies between soft skills and technical skills during recruitment process. Whereas, I believe that hiring managers prioritize soft skills over technical skills because they enhance confidence, collaboration, adaptability, and communication within teams. Strong interpersonal abilities facilitate conflict resolution and improve customer relations, leading to better outcomes.Additionally, employees with strong soft skills often demonstrate leadership potential and contribute positively to workplace culture, making them valuable assets in any organization.Meanwhile, if a person gets hired than most of the time companies provide technical training before work.
