#BAU2025 ✅ During the BAU 2025 trade fair, we’re going to present modern roofing solutions. ⛈ Today, a roof does more than protect a building from rain or snow. ☀️ Our roof solutions reflect sunlight, so the building heats up less. Less heat = lower cooling costs and greater comfort – perfect for construction that aspires to be environmentally friendly. 🌱 Matizol® products are also solutions for greenery lovers. Green roofs not only look beautiful, but also insulate and support green construction. 📌 Visit our stand at BAU 2025 and see how our practical innovations make roofers' work easier. 👉 Info about our presence & products at BAU in Munich: https://lnkd.in/dwJ7_TQa #Matizol #SustainableConstruction #Selena4Pro BAU Insights

🌲 In a breakout session around Circular Construction Practices, Earth Plant & Fiber and Gramitherm introduced bio-based building solutions. Among other pioneers like RotorDC & Beneens bouw en interieur they are trying to "seduce" the construction sector into new ways of designing, rethinking & constructing buildings. 🤷♂️ Tim Vekemans from RE-ST summarized it beautifully by reframing the panel discussion from an efficiency to a sufficiency mindset: do we really need to build new houses? #WCEF2024 #flanderscircular #bioeconomie

🌿 Meet the creative minds behind our Oasis Terrace at Wood Hub 🌿 But who are they? A cross-functional team from various entities within the CFE Group, (with a strong BPI presence😉), dedicated to transforming our Wood Hub terrace into a true Oasis. Our new outdoor space isn't just a space to relax; it's a showcase of our commitment to sustainability and circularity. What was the inspiration behind the transformation? The idea came out from a fun and creative competition at our headquarters: Create an outdoor space for employees at a low cost. Let's make use of materials we can reclaim from our construction sites! Therefore materials once destined for disposal have been ingeniously repurposed and our team had the brilliant idea to turn them into treasures! ♻️✨ Together, they embody our core values: 👍Happener: A Yes attitude 💪Engaged: Doing their utmost ✅Reliable: They say it, they do it! 🤝One: Stronger together A nod to our team: special thanks to Zoé Van Begin, Nuria Gomez Frias, Sandra Gottcheiner, Thibaut Mahieu, Alexandre Emmanuelidis, Elise Hendrickx, Marjorie Verstappen and Gunter Verdonck for taking the lead on this initiative. And another special thanks to our colleagues at BENELMAT sa - nv for helping us build the furniture and Laminated Timber Solutions Belgium for providing us with high-quality repurposed wood. #sustainability #circulareconomy #ecofriendly #strongertogether #changingforgood

More coffee; move the legs; stay focussed Scott! In the future we will no longer ask “why wood?” but rather, “Why isn’t the building made of wood?” Weleda AG’s Cradle Campus in Schwäbisch Gmünd exemplifies a global shift in sustainable construction, combining extensive use of wood and innovative materials like rammed earth, showcased in Germany’s largest contiguous rammed earth structure. This philosophy closely aligns with British Columbia’s Mass Timber Action Plan, which starts to move us beyond “Why wood?” to embrace wood as the standard for construction. By highlighting the structural, environmental, and economic benefits of mass timber, BC is positioning itself as a global leader in sustainable design. Projects like the Weleda Cradle Campus, presented this afternoon at Forum Holzbau International by Bernhard Tritschler of Holzbau Amann GmbH and Nico Santuario of Michelgroup demonstrate the potential for renewable resources to redefine the built environment while inspiring a worldwide transition to sustainable construction. Made possible with the help of a real-time translation device to fully take in the lecture. #WhyNotWood #RammedEarthRevolution #BuildingWithNature #WoodFirstDesign #SustainabilityStandard #RenewableArchitecture #FutureOfConstruction #NaturalInnovation

🌳 🪵 As part of the W.A.V.E. project, the Luxembourg Wood Cluster, managed by Luxinnovation GIE, organised an expert workshop on innovation approaches on 5 November in Leudelange. The workshop was organised in partnership with the project's Belgian and German consortium. 🌳 🪵 This expert workshop focused on innovations in the sustainable construction sector, with a presentation of two outstanding projects showing the specificities of using wood-steel beams and wood-concrete composite beams in static timber construction. The workshop was followed by a technical visit to the ALLEGRA and WOODEN projects. 🌳 🪵 The 60 experts present were able to discuss and exchange views on the advantages and challenges of systemic construction, focusing on the technological and planning aspects of wood composite construction, as well as the differences in regulations in each of the territories and the obstacles that this still creates to greater use of wood. 🌳 🪵 We still need to make further progress in order to take a step back from the experiments that have been carried out and learn from them in favour of wood materials. Ligne Bois,DLG-AVG Bau, IZES gGmbH, Société Royale Forestière de Belgique and FILIERE BOIS WALLONIE also took part in the discussions. 👉 Well done to Luxinnovation GIE for this excellent organisation. 👏

“Industry wide frameworks” 🤝 “Sharing knowledge and experiences” 🧠 “Better relationships with our supply chain partners” 🌱 “Expanded material databases and marketplaces” 🏗️ Just a few of the ideas shared this morning in response to Steve Gilchrist’s question: what do we need to do in 2024 to push the material reuse agenda forward? It was a pleasure to host a circular materials roundtable at our London Studio, along with Willmott Dixon and FORE Partnership, followed by a tour of FORE's development, TBC. London. We took a deep dive into the successes, setbacks, challenges and opportunities around material reuse, after Gareth Atkinson showcased the 318 Oxford Street and TBC. London projects which have been at the heart of a deal that saw 20 tonnes of steel reused, brokered on the back of a bike. With rising temperatures and countries worldwide overshooting their carbon targets, reducing the embodied carbon of our structures is more important than ever. Thanks to all who joined us! Thanks to the organisers of Sydney Build Expo 2024, what an incredible event! Multiple stages with presentations and panel discussions involving the best & brightest in the industry. Great to hear about supply chain challenges ‘from the horse’s mouth’ (eg presentations by, and discussions with the major players in construction). The live band performances were brilliant, especially the roving accordionist 🎼! Construction projects are facing stormy conditions with rising costs and continuing supply chain disruptions, we hope to alleviate these challenges for more construction co.s ASAP with smart supply chain visibility / management. Thanks to WAM Australia® for the tour of their Concep CSP Aggregate Separation & Recovery System (shown in the pic), aiding sustainable construction by helping recycle leftover concrete instead of just burying it. Reminds us that sustainable buildings constructed on time & on budget need everyone’s input up & down the value chain. All the way from us optimising / digitalising purchasing & supply chain activities… down to the recycling & re-use of excess materials on-site. We at Ligentia look forward to deeper involvement in the construction sector! #constructionsupplychain #supplychaintransformation #supplychain #sustainablebuildings #digitalisation #supplychainvisibility

A construction project for an office building in Allschwil near Basel is taking on a pioneering role in sustainable construction. HORTUS (house of research, technology, utopia and sustainability) takes ecology further. The modern office building compensates for the grey energy used in its construction within a generation. And how? By supplying solar energy from the roof and the facade. But sustainability goes much further here. HORTUS is setting new standards by using natural materials from the region. Following the guiding principle of "love for the place", the holistic approach and the obvious idea of using building materials directly from the location emerged: earth and wood. https://lnkd.in/g2MPDMuV
