Employee resource groups (ERGs), the employee-led organizations that represent marginalized communities and advocate for diverse perspectives in the workplace, are facing major scrutiny as many companies are now scaling back DEI initiatives in response to criticism, particularly post-election. Our CEO, Nadja Bellan-White (she/her/ella), spoke to Ad Age about what this means for brands. Most, she predicted, will not give into the pressure, as long as their ERGs are tied to business growth. Those who do not retain their DEI commitments, including ERGs, are those that had “a fair-weather plan” to begin with, she said.
