As many of you are aware, last year (for the 2nd consecutive year) the PSDSRA and San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM) partnered and held our annual donation drive. We had more participating companies, more boxes collected and more items donated than the previous year by a pretty wide margin. It was truly impressive what we were able to do in a 2-week event. The generosity and support that was shown is truly amazing. My hope is that this year we can duplicate our success! Emails went out to the PSDSRA membership today 9/27/2024. If you didn’t receive it, but would like to participate please reach out and we will get a donation box over to your office. For anyone unfamiliar with SDRM, they are a non-profit homeless shelter and recovery center serving thousands of men, women and children experiencing homelessness, hunger, poverty, and abuse in San Diego since 1955. I’ve personally toured their downtown facility and met with their staff on many occasions. I can say without a doubt this is the best run non-profit facility in the city of San Diego. They have an amazing success rate with lasting results when it comes to dealing with homelessness and changing lives. They are currently operating a 360-bed facility downtown, a 50 bed facility in Oceanside and recently opened a new 162-bed facility in National City so their needs are greater than ever. The SD Rescue Mission takes no government funding, so every donation makes a direct impact to the programs they offer and people they serve. If you’d like to know more about SDRM, please visit their website https://www.sdrescue.org/ and check out this video detailing their new facility in National City. https://lnkd.in/e3shJT7b Joshua Carr President, California Marine Cleaning

Urgent Update: Today, our lives have been shattered by a devastating incident. Warplanes mercilessly targeted the seven-story residential building, "Al-Salam Home 6 Building," which I call my home. After warplanes targeted my apartment in the same building earlier, several months ago. The aftermath is heart-wrenching - the building has been completely destroyed. I had only been living in this building for a year, and now my neighbors and I find ourselves grappling with the harsh reality. Our dreams, the roof over our heads, and our hopes have been demolished in an instant. It feels like everything we have worked for has been torn apart. The impact goes beyond the physical destruction; it carries a heavy emotional toll. We find ourselves burdened with debts and instalments that we were yet to pay, adding to our already overwhelming challenges. This ordeal has left us devastated, helpless, and uncertain about the future. In moments like these, we must come together as a community. Let us extend our support, empathy, and solidarity to my family. Together, we can lend a helping hand, rebuild shattered lives, and restore hope amidst the darkness. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Share this post to raise awareness and encourage others to stand with us. Let us unite and demonstrate that even in the face of adversity, compassion and resilience prevail. Exciting news in the philanthropy world! Renowned entrepreneur Dick Smith has made a generous commitment to donate his $300 energy rebate announced in the Federal Budget this week to the Salvation Army, urging fellow millionaires to follow suit. Dick Smith's message is clear and inspiring: "Not all of us need that money. There are millions of Australians that are doing OK. Donate the money to an important charity and that means the money won't be wasted." In a time where every little bit helps, this gesture of kindness demonstrates a powerful way to make a significant impact. This act of generosity can serve as a reminder of the impact we can have when we redirect resources to where they are most needed. So many Australian families, including kinship and foster care households face significant financial challenges daily. For carers, additional financial support really does go a long way, grants for the purchase of items for the children and young people in their care can mean the world, especially when the cost of living is so high. Through our fundraising at OzChild we can help with the costs of tutoring, counselling, car seats, and even prescription glasses for kids – practical items that make caring a little bit easier. But we can’t do that alone. No not-for-profit organisation can, we rely on the generosity of others to make it possible for us to help lighten the load for families. Let’s join forces to make a difference! I encourage everyone who can, to consider this impactful choice. Whether it’s a donation to the Salvation Army, OzChild or another charity close to your heart, let’s turn our rebates into a collective effort for good. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #GivingBack #CommunitySupport

October 6, 2024 is the NYC Chapter Out of Darkness Walk. It will start the NYC Seaport Pier 16 & 17 in the Seaport District. The event opens at 10AM. The walk starts at 11:30AM Many many of you helped last year with donations to my fund raising. I'm asking again if you can help prevent a suicide and support research into suicide. Please donate what you can. Did you know? The construction industry has one of the highest suicide rates among professions — with the rate among male construction workers 75% higher than men in the general population. 6,000 construction workers died by suicide in 2022 and increase from 2021. I've decided to sleep under a cardboard box this winter, spending one of the longest, coldest nights on the streets to raise money for people experiencing homelessness. Homelessness affects women, men, and children, with devastating consequences for individuals and families. But you can help! Support me during the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Your donation will help the St Vincent de Paul Society empower people to get off the streets and into stable accommodation. Vinnies provides counselling, education, health, and employment services to break the cycle of poverty. Every donation counts, regardless of size. To show the value, $100 can provide a family with a warm, nutritious meal this winter. Together, we can combat homelessness in our community. Please help me raise funds today! Your generosity will make a lasting impact. Thank you. Allan https://lnkd.in/gMqgegTQ

As we approach Colorado Gives Day on December 10, I want to take a moment to highlight an incredible organization that truly makes a difference in our community: Porch Light Family Justice Center. Why Donate to PorchLight?** 1. Comprehensive Support for Victims: PorchLight serves as a one-stop resource for individuals facing domestic violence, human trafficking, and other forms of abuse. They provide essential services including legal assistance, counseling, and emotional support—all in a safe and welcoming environment[2][4]. 2. Impactful Community Resource: With over 20 partner agencies located on-site, PorchLight ensures that victims have access to everything they need to begin their healing journey without the stress of navigating multiple locations[6][8]. This centralized approach has proven effective; communities with such centers see a significant drop in domestic violence rates[2]. 3. Free Services for All: All services offered at PorchLight are free to victims and survivors, making it accessible for everyone who needs help. Your donation helps sustain these vital services and ensures that no one has to face their struggles alone. 4. Matching Donations: This year, any new monthly donations set up through ColoradoGives.org will be matched by the Colorado Gives Foundation, up to $100. This means your contribution can have double the impact! 5. Join the Movement: By donating on Colorado Gives Day, you not only support PorchLight but also contribute to a larger movement that empowers nonprofits across our state. Every dollar counts towards the $1 million+ incentive fund that amplifies the impact of donations made on this day. Please consider making a donation to PorchLight Family Justice Center this Colorado Gives Day. Together, we can help create a safer community and provide hope to those in need. Thank you for your support! https://lnkd.in/g2n67mCD

The Heart Behind CYcrds™'s Social Commitment Every business has its 'why.' Mine was born from a promise made on one of the most profound days of my life - at my four-and-a-half-year-old son's funeral. On that day, amidst those who gathered to say goodbye, someone approached me about helping children with special needs in orphanages. Having worked to change laws in the Netherlands for physically challenged children like my son, I made a heartfelt commitment: when I would be in a position to help, I would. Today, that promise lives on through CYcrds™. With every deck sold, we pledge €1 to support children's charities, focusing specifically on children with special needs in orphanages. This isn't just a charitable gesture - it's a testament to the power of turning personal purpose into meaningful action. When you choose CYcrds™, you become part of this promise, helping us create ripples of positive change for children who need it most. Some promises change us forever. This one shaped our entire business model. #SocialImpact #Purpose #Promise #ChangeForGood"

Dear friends, Today, I reach out to you with a heartfelt plea for help. Madalina, a brave mother of three, is in a desperate situation and needs our support. After several surgeries, Madalina has lost one of her legs and is now confined to a wheelchair. These tragic events have placed her in a difficult position where she can barely provide for her children and herself. The Urgent Situation Madalina has not been able to pay her rent for the past seven months. Understandably frustrated, the landlord has given her a final warning and plans to involve the authorities to evict her from the house. This family is on the brink of homelessness. How You Can Help I am asking you to contribute as little as one euro, dollar, or pound to help Madalina and her children. Your generous donations will be used primarily for: Paying off overdue rent: Ensuring the family has a roof over their heads. Buying food: Providing the essentials for Madalina and her children. Procuring a prosthetic leg: Helping Madalina regain some mobility and independence. Every Contribution Counts No amount is too small. Every single donation will make a significant difference in their lives. Imagine the impact we can collectively make if each of us gives just a tiny portion of what we have. It could mean the difference between security and uncertainty for Madalina and her children. Spread the Word If you cannot donate at this time, you can still help by spreading the word. Share this post, tell your friends, and encourage others to visit our blog and contribute. Together, we can make a monumental difference. Visit our blog for more details and to make a donation: https://lnkd.in/dRTrpWff
