Veteran Donation Scams Are on the Rise – Let’s Stay Informed 🚨 It’s heartbreaking, but scammers are increasingly taking advantage of our generosity towards veterans by creating fake charities or misusing donations meant for those who have served our country. 💔 These scams rob the veterans who need our support and tarnish the reputation of legitimate nonprofits. If you want to make a difference, follow these tips: Research before you give: Check the charity to ensure that at least 95% of your donation goes directly to the veteran, not the programs of the nonprofit. Donate wisely: Make sure you go to the official website, check to see if the nonprofit pays its Board of Directors and how much, and make sure you ask how your donation will be used. You may also direct that all of your donation be used only to help veterans. Beware of pressure tactics: Legitimate charities won’t rush, pressure you, or use guilt tactics to get you to donate. Let’s honor our veterans by ensuring our contributions reach those in need.
