You’d think finding an environmental charity would be a pretty easy task with all the search capabilities out there. And it is… if you’re looking for a huge international organisation that’s likely based in New York 🏙️ I’m on the hunt for grassroots environmental charities in developing countries. However, when I used that exact search term in Google, the results were neither “grassroots” nor based “in developing countries". In fact, one of the top results I checked out listed 35 environmental charities, but 29 (83%) of them were headquartered in the United States. The remaining six were based in Europe. Now, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s not what I’m after 🕵️ An important aspect of my work is driving positive sustainable impacts. While I’m a team of one, charitable contributions are the most effective way of doing this. I like to think of it as an environmental tax. So, I’m going old school and asking for word-of-mouth recommendations for small environmental charities doing amazing work in developing countries - projects and organisations that don’t show up in Google. If you have any suggestions or can put me in contact with people that can point me in the right direction, I’d be a very happy chappy 🙏 #Charity #Sustainability #EnvironmentalCauses

It's hard to describe the past autumn in a few sentences (and it's not over yet 😉 ). 💡 Key words: charity, busy, amazing, varied, exhausting, travelling the country, working in the sun and rain, meeting and working with fantastic people. This autumn we held charity team-building events for 8 companies and awarness-raising programme for 3; all in 32 days. 🤗 We helped 3 national parks, 4 children's homes, 2 environmental NGOs, 1 home for the elderly, 1 community centre, 1 community garden together with volunteers from companies. ⛏ We built bird boxes, raised flower beds, composting bins, stork nests, painted rooms, eliminated invasive species, renovated information boards, etc. I have had the opportunity to field visit, plan the events, lead programmes, give presentations, demonstrate awareness raising games and of course improvise when nothing went as planned. 🌺 Meanwhile, we have 2 menstruation programmes running which I manage, so I often found myself checking in to international meetings from the conservation area in my wellies. 😆 I'm very proud of our work and the team we've done it with. 💚 Zöldövezet Társulás Egyesület It is fantastic to benefit from these experiences. #environmentprotection #charity #charityteambuilding

We'd like to extend a huge shout-out to one of our amazing supporters, Nicola (Nics) Johnson from NXJ Coaching & Consulting. Nics and I met when we were both on the same women's mountain bike racing team in Edinburgh. And nearly 15 years later, our paths are crossing again with a new shared passion: the important and deeply healing power of nature. Nics recently took the initiative to propose Darroch Nurseries to the 1% for the Planet network, where we have now been made an Environmental Partner. This means that we can accept donations from 1% for the Planet members woooo! 🌍 Darroch is what it is now because of the people involved in its journey, in all ways, and we love that our community cares so deeply about this little venture and working together to leave the planet a better place. Nics, thank you! 🙏🌱 For those new to 1% for the Planet, it was started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies. Their members commit to donating at least 1% of annual sales directly to environmental organisations. This is another building block of support in a time when there is no designated funding for new or establishing tree nurseries like ours. #darrochnurseries #treenursery #trees #nativetrees #getoutside #scottish #scotland #socialenterprise #nature #regenerative #treestreestrees #patagonia #1%fortheplanet

The Akshaya Tritiya festival symbolizes prosperity, happiness, compassion, and abundance. It is a time to focus on giving back to the Earth Mother for all the gifts she provides. One way to honor the Earth Mother is by planting trees, conserving water, and promoting green initiatives. The "1000 Together" project aims to bring together a thousand individuals to participate in environmental activities to restore and preserve the Earth's gifts. This initiative is part of THC's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. No amount is small. Donations exempt from Income Tax under Sec 80G of the Income Tex Act, 1961. Contribute generously and help us better - https://lnkd.in/g5qRfnTi To know more about our work, check this link out - https://lnkd.in/gr2UKhzv

Today, you can double your impact with a tax-time gift and give nature a legal voice! Nature needs us now more than ever. In Australia, more than 2000 species and ecosystems are threatened with extinction. We need to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions to avoid dangerous climate change, yet 29 new coal mines are on the table or approved already in Australia. The law is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight the climate and extinction crises. But we need you on our side, and today you can double your impact. Turn your $50 gift into $100, $150 into $300, or $500 into $1000. Gifts up to $1000 will be matched by one of EDO’s dedicated supporters, the Sisyphus Foundation. The Foundation are offering to match donations up to a total of $40,000 in memory of its founder, Jeremy Davis, who recognised EDO’s vital role in safeguarding Australia’s natural heritage for generations to come. We’d like to thank the Sisyphus Foundation and Jeremy’s family for their ongoing commitment to a world where nature thrives. Make your tax-time gift count and give wildlife and nature a legal voice today. With the end of financial year just three days away, now is a great time to give. By donating today, you are helping to use the law to defend our most precious places and wildlife from destruction.
