✅ Went to that event. But was I just ticking a box? Yesterday, I attended TEMPO Milwaukee's 19th Annual Leadership Event with Soledad O’Brien—and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t simply ticking a box. As a busy entrepreneur and a TEMPO programming committee member, my goal is to help provide AND get, real value from these events. I used the following approach to be sure I wasn’t just showing up but truly benefiting. Here’s how: 1️⃣ Define The Value: What does success at this event look like? 👉 Connecting with other women leaders to build genuine, supportive relationships. 2️⃣ Set Specific Goals: 👉 I focused on reconnecting with 3 women, making 4 new connections, and capturing a key takeaway from Soledad to share in a future post. 3️⃣ Evaluate After: 👉 Did I meet these goals? If not, what needs adjusting? If you’re spending time at networking events, you can ensure you’re not just attending—you’re advancing. What goals can you set to get true value next time? _________________________ Networking events are one of many ways you can level up. If you're curious about more, shoot me a DM, and let's chat. I got you, girl. 💪

Thanks to everyone who joined Martin Silvester FRICS MBA Rachael Newbold Daniel Smith (Saltmine) and I today as we discussed the concept of fear in decision making for Corporate Real Estate. The conclusion? If you reach for the stars you’ll sometime fail. But if we can improve our engagement approach with the businesses we support, secure senior leadership buy in (not a ‘seat at the table’, but everyone at the table supporting our cause), and show that riskier solutions can be effectively managed then we can make CRE a lot, lot more effective and efficient

This month's Alumni Spotlight is Henry Decoo from Entech! HOMETOWN: Bronx, NY TITLE: Director of Sales COMPANY: Entech LEADERSHIP YEAR: 2020 How do you stay connected with area professionals? "I stay connected with area professionals by utilizing a mix of networking events, online platforms like LinkedIn, and my participation on the Leadership Sarasota Council and Leadership Alumni Committee. I also engage in industry-specific associations, attend professional development programs, and foster relationships through informal meetings and community involvement to build a strong network of connections." What was the most impactful part about the Leadership Sarasota program? "The most impactful part of the program was getting to go behind the scenes and learning about how all of the different segments of the business community come together to advance the Sarasota community. This helped me to get a better understanding of how I can help to contribute to our community’s growth and prosperity by getting more involved." What’s the best piece of professional advice you have been given? "Solve a problem or go away. We are either helping people achieve their goals or solve their problems. That’s the mentality we need to have when we are conducting business."

Great to meet so many like-minded, friendly Social Value professionals yesterday at the Social Value UK / ISV Conference 2024. The day was packed full of insightful talks, connections and learnings from across all industries. It was great to see the event fully embracing their choice of host location in the Midlands, with talks from local movers and shakers in the Social Value space. My key takeaways were: 💡 If we stand for everything, we stand for nothing. SV professionals who truly believe in the agenda need to stand against Social Value Washing and hold one another to account for truly creating impact. 🥂 Celebrate the successes we have. I heard stories from peers across industries yesterday of positive impact creation. It's easy to get wrapped up in the threats and challenges to/of social value, but it's important that we promote best practice. 🚀 The conversation around impact measurement is really moving forward and the thinking does exist. We need to embrace it and be creative, trying out new approaches and, importantly, admitting when we get things wrong or don't create the impact we meant to. Thank you to BT - Taner Mustafa Simon Godfrey - for hosting us; to Young Professionals in Social Value for the last-min, free ticket; and most importantly to Isabelle Parasram OBE and Social Value UK for such an insightful day. #socialvalue #YPSV #InstituteforSocialValue
