Apprenticeship programs are important components in the talent strategy whether in the Federal/Public or Commercial/Private sectors. As more private/public partnerships emerge - it is important to recognize providers that have proven effective and true apprenticeship programs that work versus less mature programs or rebranded bootcamp programs. Smoothstack truly shines in this apprenticeship model - helping our partners scale net new talent quickly and effectively!
Apprenticeship programs continue to gain momentum, helping to solve a few key critical challenges faced by today’s employers: 🧑🏽💻 not enough skilled talent (in tech, in Smoothstack’s case) 👫 a lack of employee diversity, including race and gender ⚖️ a supply and demand imbalance across many industries https://bit.ly/3WwSwYF

It’s such an inspiring story! I agree that emphasizing university education alone often overlooks valuable pathways like apprenticeships, which countries like Switzerland and Germany successfully integrate—this alignment helps better meet workforce needs. It's important to value and promote these diverse educational routes to enhance workforce diversity. We must ensure that university degrees support, rather than undermine, this inclusive approach to education. If they become barriers to other valid forms of learning, we defeat the very purpose of education
“What university did you go to?” For many years, I would change the subject or be embarrassed to answer this question. Now, I couldn’t be prouder to say that I didn’t go to university. Instead, I started an apprenticeship at 16 straight from school, where I worked and studied in my free time. I celebrated this journey yesterday on a #SocialMobilityDay panel hosted by our Social Mobility and Pride business resource groups. We talked about the critical role businesses play in helping access opportunities – and our work to level the playing field by doubling the number of apprenticeships available globally to up to 2,000 by 2030 and providing work experience placements for 500 students by Dec. 2024, a goal we met a year ahead of schedule. My apprenticeship shaped who I am and how I lead, and I’m delighted to serve as a judge for the 2024 UK Social Mobility Awards this summer. From recruiting brilliant talent to widening access to education – the work of individuals and companies advancing social mobility is so important and I encourage you to learn more and consider applying at https://www.somo.uk/ Thanks to wonderful role models and a range of experiences, I could see a variety of career paths ahead of me. I’d love to hear who has inspired you – let me know.

🌟Diverse teams achieve more🌟 “Diversity in the workplace doesn’t happen by chance”, says Anna Morrison CBE, Director and owner of Amazing Apprenticeships. Anna believes that if you’re not already measuring your workforce diversity, it is time to start reviewing data trends, investing time and effort and actioning. Diversity needs to be driven from the top in an authentic and genuine way – ensuring that the focus filters through every part of the organisation.📈 To read more about how offering apprenticeships and other early career pathways can support young people from different backgrounds, download and subscribe to Careermag for Inclusion Issue 8, for free! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gvGZTY48 #Careermag #Inclusion #Diversity #Careers #SEND #Neurodiversity
