Last Wednesday, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Teresa Tse, a Specialist in Clinical Oncology, at Cyberport Hong Kong to shed light on a critical women's health issue: breast cancer. Dr. Tse's presentation covered: • The nature of breast cancer • Associated risk factors and high-risk populations • Diagnostic and screening methods • Available treatment options A crucial takeaway was the importance of early screening for detection. Dr. Tse also shared evidence-based strategies to reduce long-term cancer risk. 🚨 This informative session armed attendees with practical knowledge to manage their own health and support loved ones. We also want to thank Humansa for bringing their team in and providing on-the-spot body checks for all participants. MixCare demonstrated its commitment to demystifying health conditions and raising awareness about proactive steps we can all take. 💪 As part of our commitment to holistic wellness, MixCare Health provided valuable insights. #CervicalCancer screening rates are declining across many high-income countries despite screening programmes and the use of new screening technologies, such as self-collection. If we are to progress towards the World Health Organization’s target of eliminating cervical cancer, new thinking and innovative collaborations that prioritise the unique expertise and relationship with women that patient advocacy groups offer, including with those who are under-screened, alongside others such as researchers and policy makers working in cervical cancer, are urgently needed. Patient advocacy groups bring real-world perspectives to the table, making them a vitally important partner to researchers and policy makers involved in this effort. I was honoured to speak on this topic at the ‘New Alliances: Building Collaboration in Cervical Cancer’ roundtable, sponsored by Hologic, Inc. and held during hashtag #IPVC2024 last week, where leading experts came together to discuss how to best collaborate and ensure women’s experiences are integrated into new research, policy developments and interventions. Thank you to my fellow speakers for an engaging and insightful discussion on the day: Athena Lamnisos, Matejka Rebolj, Mairead O'Connor, PhD, Carmen Wyton, Icó Tóth, Ody Neisingh, @Martin Hunt and Dr. Alison Wiggans. #WomensHealth #CervicalScreening #HPV #CervicalCancerPrevention

When patients understand the mechanisms of their disease, they are empowered to take on a more active role in their care. By working with dedicated patient advocacy groups like Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, Luminations is able to break down the complex science surrounding disease and treatment options using our unique approach to #patienteducation. Through one-of-a-kind visual metaphors and friendly animation, Luminations deliver crucial information to patients in a digestible, memorable way. This Luminations clip, intended for patient and #caregiver audiences, explains how an individual cancer drug that targets a specific mutation might work for multiple cancers that share the same mutation. Could your network benefit from Luminations' approach to patient education? View more of our work & contact us at https://lnkd.in/gJFJTTmg

Breast cancer is an issue that is very close to my heart, but it is also a major challenge in Europe and globally. In Europe, significant prevention gaps persist-including incomplete breast cancer screening programmes that lack consistency across EU Member States, variation in screening programme participation rates related to socio-economic inequalities, geographical disparities, and unequal access to healthcare services. This is why I am proud to be involved in the planning process for an upcoming policy debate for the MELIORA EU Horizon Project, which will involve important discussions on how to address these gaps on EU, national, and local levels. You can find more information and register for the event below ⬇️⬇️
🌍 As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, our commitment to prevention and early detection continues! With #BreastCancer cases expected to rise over 40% by 2040, the need for sustainable prevention and accessible early detection strategies has never been greater. 📢$80 Billion for Cancer Drugs, But LMICs Are Left Behind: Time to Rethink Research for Global Equity 📢 Over $80 billion is spent annually on cancer drug development, yet many innovations fail to reach low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), which bear 70% of the global cancer burden. Conducting cancer #clinicaltrials in LMICs is crucial for creating effective and equitable care. By running trials in LMICs, we can ensure the safety, efficacy and effectiveness of new therapies are tested on diverse populations, making them suitable for everyone, not just those in wealthier nations. This approach not only provides patients in these regions with early access to new therapies but also helps boost local clinical research capacity as an important driver for quality improvement of service delivery. At City Cancer Challenge, we support cities in addressing local service readiness to ensure the most essential service delivery infrastructure is in place to deliver appropriate care and enable local systems to fully attain the best possible outcomes from oncology medicines. Building clinical research capacity in LMICs can be an important driver of such readiness as it helps to upgrade essential services, strengthen quality improvement programmes and train (and retain) professionals committed to excellence. Thank you Darryl Sleep, MD, Amgen, Bob Li, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Cure4Cancer for cohosting this session with C/Can and Foreign Policy at #UNGA79 to raise awareness of this critical subject and Dr. Nwamaka Lasebikan, Nigerian Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), for sharing your perspective from, C/Can city Abuja, Nigeria. Without building the system’s capacity, innovation will continue to bypass those who need it most. It’s time to rethink #cancerresearch and focus on closing the care gap. 🌍💪 https://lnkd.in/eYnGET6M (Foreign Policy @UNGA79 video) PS: Thank you Diogo de Sousa Neves for your support with this post. #wordsmatters #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #Oncology

Dogs Without Borders is a unique project that’s currently helping potential breast cancer patients access diagnostics in remote areas. (It’s almost an entire health ecosystem in its own right.) The work was named as 2023’s second most awarded health campaign in the world by The Drum. Whilst we are so proud of all the teams who made it happen, we also want to take a moment to reflect on the wider implications of what we do to help drive forward survival rates to one of our biggest global health challenges – cancer. The project shows how communications can help move cancer care forward by looking at problems in new and different ways and working collaboratively to develop solutions that put the patient at the center. It’s an advert for the power of ideas, showing how the combination of innovative thinking, tech and creative collaboration can close equity gaps in health. Thanks to a great partnership with SFBO, we were able to develop something that’s truly helping people access cancer care, and in the process, giving abandoned dogs – previously left to die – a home. If you’ve not seen the video yet, check it out. #VMLHealth #HealthcareMarketing #Healthcare #PharmaMarketing #Pharma

For many people, access to health information is only a Google search or swipe away. However, recent Johnson & Johnson data show that patients from underrepresented communities are not able to find online resources that accurately reflect their lived experience and about two-thirds feel underrepresented in stories and experiences of other patients online. This month, we recognize National Minority Health Month. These data underscore the importance of this year’s theme, Be the Source for Better Health, which aims to share resources to improve health outcomes through cultures, communities, and connections. At #JNJ, we know that patients have better outcomes when they are more informed and have the resources to make decisions about their care. We are working to close this health education access gap by inviting underrepresented people in the lung cancer community to become a part of BeLUNG Here. Through this initiative, we hope to build a group of patient advocates with diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and perspectives to bring differentiated voices to social media and the lung cancer community. When patients see themselves reflected in the shared experiences of the lung cancer community, they feel a greater sense of inclusion and are more empowered to navigate their healthcare journey. This impact can be better understood through the personal stories of Nichelle and Jimmy. You can read more about their stories here: https://lnkd.in/eaA3ta2p To read more about the goal and mission of BeLUNG Here, check out the Endpoints News article in the comments. #MyCompany #NMHM2024 #LungCancer #HealthEquity
