Lawo and Merging Technologies team up to transform the Musiikkitalo in Helsinki 🇫🇮 The Musiikkitalo music center is home to two orchestras: Yle's Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Its IP infrastructure makes any signal source available anywhere. The Main Hall is used two to three times a week for live radio and TV broadcasts and streaming, for which up to three mc²56-equipped control rooms are used. Up to 100 events per month are staged at Musiikkitalo's various venues: classical, jazz, pop, and rock music performances, talk shows, corporate events, film screenings, different kinds of art performances, circus, dance, opera, and more! The Helsinki Philharmonic orchestra wished to keep using its Merging Technologies equipment (Horus, Hapi and Anubis as well as Pyramix software), Lawo and Merging Technologies collaborated on making these solutions »HOME native«, making Musiikkitalo a landmark project for HOME management platform! As a result, the Merging devices can now conveniently be patched and tweaked from any of the three mc² audio mixing consoles. Of course, Musiikkitalo also uses other Lawo solutions and has even developed an intuitive way to assign its four DAWs to any mixing console at the press of a button. Musical spectacles took center stage in China as the China Association of Performing Arts unveiled staggering statistics for the first three quarters of 2023. With 1,137 large-scale concerts and festivals nationwide, drawing an audience of 11.45 million, the allure of these events reached beyond city limits, with over 60 percent of attendees hailing from out of town. Jay Chou's summer concert in Haikou, Hainan province, became a standout, attracting 154,600 attendees and generating a tourism windfall of 976 million yuan ($136.90 million). This surpassed the city's Labor Day holiday revenue and tripled that of the Dragon Boat Festival. The data underscores concerts as potent catalysts for local economies, although their popularity has also brought challenges such as scalping issues and smaller cities grappling with an influx of tourists. #Culture #Creativity #EconomicImpact #ArtsInEconomy #MultiplierEffect #Cebr #culture, #creativity #cultureandcreativityinpublic #creativeeconomy

One of my (many) favorite things about train travel in Japan, is the station melodies. Not only is it fantastic sonic branding for the train company brand (JR East) it’s also great for accessibility. Japan's railways are mostly private companies, so they compete for commuters. Believe it or not, people have brand loyalty to specific lines, specific trains or even commuter card brands. BONUS - there is a link to many MP3's of the JR East station melodies in the comments. #sonicbranding #audiobranding #traintravel
My fascination with Japan just reached a new high 🇯🇵🚆 In most train stations in Europe we are used to hearing basic dings and dongs. But in Japan metro riders are treated with fully composed 7-second jingles that are uniquely written for each station. Imagine if such a creative and innovative idea was applied here💡 (Are you watching DSB and The Copenhagen Metro and Greater Copenhagen Light Rail?) Meet Minoru Mukaiya – the man behind these melodies at over 110 stations in Tokyo. For him, there's no greater joy than adding a touch of music to the daily commute of millions across Japan ♬ #sonicbranding #japan #publictransport #unmute

What changes have been made in festival policies at the state government level in Norway since the 1990s? In our latest issue, Erik Henningsen and Marianne Takle answer this very question in their article “Festivals and the political dynamics of cultural policy”. The changes in festival policy reflect the political dynamics of cultural policy in Norway. Henningsen and Takle demonstrate that the development has progressed along two different directions. Some actors compete for temporary funding from arm’s length bodies and must operate within a regulative political dynamic. Others receive permanent funding from the Ministry of Culture and are a part of a distributive political dynamic. $450 million is the estimated amount injected into the Singapore economy from the recent ColdPlay and Taylor Swift concerts. Please, Minister Tong, consider grooming a local act with international appeal. Funding can be from money going into getting Singapore into the World Cup. Imagine if Singapore has a Taylor Swift or BTS equivalent - one concert a month and Singapore's economy will sort itself out. As for why fund a concert act using football funding, I think Singaporeans need to realise we will never get into the World Cup. We have tried for decades (remember Goal 2010?). Even if we do succeed, it will not impact our economy. Time to be pragmatic. #singapore #tourism #physcialretailisnotdead

On the heels of Taylor Swift, Deep Purple (for music lovers of a certain age) is choosing Singapore only! To answer the question, “Why is it always Singapore?”, just look to simple things… Corruption, or the lack of it. Infrastructure, not just for the musicians but for everyone else! And very importantly, the absence of overzealous religious police… think back… how many performers have run afoul of the archaic (and arcane) rules, and have had to make a beeline out of the country etc etc. It’s easy. And not easy. Getting the hardware together is just throwing money at it. Seeing it through is time and more importantly, political will. Indonesia and Malaysia can do it. It WILL take a generation if they start now… https://lnkd.in/gYa6ry4c
