The newer development for the tourists and residential settlement answers to Emilio Ambasz’ design principle that the #buildings should be so integrated into the #landscape that they are invisible to their neighbors and that their #gardens be connected to the roofs by means of easily walkable #earth ramps. #greenroofs
Emilio Ambasz is an architect and award-winning industrial designer. Ambasz's trademark style is a combination of buildings and gardens, which he describes as 'green. over grey'.

Cities are always work-in-progress. Buildings are mantained, new are contructed, and existing building are being rehabilitated. It is an ongoing flow of actions of transformations and adjustments. And sometimes street spaces are literally needed as temporary construction sites. Timing is everything, to limit unconvincies for others and to be efficient as possible. And with the reenforcement of exting urban area this will be become more often the reality in many cities. ... the Future Design of Street - association ... PORTO, Oct 2024

My letter to the FT: related to the recent opinion piece “The City’s development needs to heed history” unfairly criticises the impact of tall buildings on the Square Mile’s accessibility to the public realm. In fact, they are making a huge contribution to the City’s increasing visitor and tourism footfall. The City Corporation’s planning policy is centred around creating an inclusive, accessible Square Mile, that enables the public to freely celebrate its history and heritage, while re-shaping those parts of the City that have the most potential for growth and regeneration. Through ‘City Plan 2040,’ we are already delivering the cornerstone of this vision, working flexibly with developers to create new cultural and educational attractions, public roof gardens and terraces, viewing galleries and wider public realm enhancements, that are carefully interwoven with our new offices. Just last month, the Sky Garden welcomed its 11 millionth visitor, making it one of the world’s most ticketed, free-to-visit destinations. Added to this is 120 Fenchurch’s roof garden which welcomed its 1.5 millionth visitor, as well as the ‘The Lookout’ and ‘Horizon 22’ galleries in Bishopsgate greeting more than half a million people in less than a year since opening. In the City, growth and conservation combine to define what is unique about the Square Mile, and this is ultimately at the heart of our plan.

I have a deep appreciation for the city of Bordeaux. (The wine too, but let's keep it professional for the moment...) The intense effort of France's fifth-largest city in redesigning itself for a better urban environment is remarkable. It constantly reminds me of what dense historic cities are capable of achieving despite their urban consolidation. When people tell me that old historical European cities cannot do much to improve mobility and public space within consolidated centric areas, I often refer to Bordeaux as an example. The impactful urban development strategies taken over the last four decades, fighting the car-centric mentality, can be seen and enjoyed at the River Garonne's waterfront, in the public transportation through LVT and bike networks, and in the many public squares with greenery and water features to beat the hot summer days, all within its now lovely, walkable city center. Again, Bordeaux gives me another reason to come back: Pont Simone-Veil. This beautiful new bridge not notable for its design by OMA but for its democratic function. It exemplifies the inversion of the pyramid of mobility in a single statement: within its 44-meter width, there are only four car lanes, but it primarily serves as "a linear public space to connect and serve the two adjoining communities that so far have not developed a strong identity." Active mobility, neighborhood connection, and new public space. It is not just a crossing path but also a destination in its own right. See you soon, Bordeaux. https://lnkd.in/dkMGicBz

Miami is soaring to new heights, ranking #3 for the tallest skyscrapers in the United States, following New York City and Chicago. The city’s skyline is rapidly evolving, with construction booming and new developments reshaping the urban landscape. Shawn Ursini from The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat predicts Miami will be one of the fastest-growing cities for tall buildings, a sentiment echoed by Eli Beracha from the Tibor and Sheila Hollo School of Real Estate, who sees vertical expansion as essential for Southeast Florida’s growth. The skyline’s transformation includes iconic projects like Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami, set to be Miami’s tallest building upon completion in 2026. ° ° ° #miamitrendyrealty #giovannagonzalez #puertorico #newyork #california #mexico #chile #brazil #canada #colombia #boricuas #miamicondos #miamihomes #miamirealestate #miamirealtor #movetomiami #floridarealestate #florida #luxuryrealestate #miami #skyscrapers #usaskyscrapers #tallestskyscrapers

In 2023 I moved to #Alicante, Spain. As an architect, I think this city has some remarkable urban characteristics that create a very high quality of life. Here are 3 lessons from Alicante and what exactly it is that fascinates me so much, besides the Mediterranean climate. What do you think, can we learn from Alicante for other cities? #livablecities #urbanplanning #HumanCenteredDesign #PlaceMaking
