Paris 2024: A win for gender equality, or a spotlight on deep-rooted issues? The Paris 2024 Olympics reaching a 50/50 gender split among athletes is a huge step forward for equality in sport. It’s great to see men and women competing side by side in equal numbers and it shows how far we've come in levelling the playing field. But while we celebrate this achievement, it’s important to highlight that only 20% of the coaches are women. This gap is a clear reminder that we still have a lot of work to do to achieve true gender equality in all areas of sport. We need to keep pushing to ensure that women have the same opportunities to coach, mentor, and inspire while we advocate for more initiatives that support women in coaching, sports and events to create a more inclusive and balanced future for all 🚺

In 1900, the Olympic Games in Paris saw the participation of women for the very first time. Only 2% of the athletes were women—a small but significant step forward. Today, as we close the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, we’ve witnessed a historic milestone: 50% of the athletes were women. This remarkable achievement, 124 years in the making, shows that gender equality in sports is not just a dream but a reality. Women and men now compete for the same number of medals and receive equal recognition on the world stage. This journey has been long and challenging, but it serves as a powerful reminder that equality is possible. Even in areas where change seems difficult or distant, progress is within our reach. Let’s carry this spirit forward and continue striving for equality in all aspects of life. 🚀 #Equality #Olympics #Inclusion #Diversity #Progress

Title IX is a game changer for women in sports! 💪 Since 1972, it's been advancing gender equality in athletics by mandating equal opportunities in programs that receive federal funding. 📣 Here's how it helps: Equal Access: Women and girls get the same opportunities to participate as men and boys. 🏀 Equal Funding: Institutions must provide equal financial support, equipment, coaching, and facilities. 🏅 Protection from Discrimination: No more denying opportunities based on gender. 🚀 Encouraging Growth: More women athletes, more visibility, and greater opportunities in professional sports. Title IX is transformative in the sports landscape, empowering athletes to break barriers and follow their dreams! 🙌 #WeBelongEverywhere #WomenInLeadership #TitleIX #WomenInSports #EqualityInAthletics #BreakingBarriers #EmpoweringAthletes

Equality at the Olympics 🥇 As this year’s Olympics come to a close, we’re celebrating more than just the incredible performances of the athletes. This year marked a historic milestone for gender equality, with women making up 50% of the participants for the first time. It’s a powerful symbol of progress and inclusion. Equally inspiring is the introduction of a nursery for the first time for parents, breaking down barriers for those balancing elite sports with family life. Team GB’s remarkable performances have made us proud, but the true victory extends beyond the medals. This progress in the sports world reflects a broader societal shift towards equality, demonstrating that when opportunities are equally accessible, everyone benefits. This isn't just about sports. It’s a glimpse into a future where gender parity is the norm in every field. #FTSEWomenLeaders #GenderEquality #EqualityInSports #Olympics2024 Vivienne Artz OBE FCSI (Hon) CMgr CCMI AIGP Penny James Nimesh Patel Laura Needham Monique Carter Chris Grigg
