« He who knows only England does not know England." - Rudyard Kipling I particularly appreciate a small reflective ingredient at the heart of one of our exercises: comparing ourselves to the organization of the Marines (USA military corps). Especially ☝️ when the participants' culture, a priori, is far from a particular interest in the military… This is where the exercise becomes most enriching. What do we do? We quickly learn things about the organization of the Marines, either in depth or at a glance, or by filtering what suits us to say things that we would find more difficult or less clear to express without the pretext of these learnings about Marines. **How are we like the Marines? **How are we not like the Marines? **How would we like to be like the Marines? **How would we not like to be like the Marines? This concerns only a subgroup among others, but the feedback in the plenary session is always very interesting. (Spoiler alert: it almost never talks about the Marines anymore, and when the Marines are mentioned, it is to say something more easily by attributing it to the Marines.) This general module, in which we use this gem, is found in many of our customized session agendas. And we also have a pleasant and motivating (non-challenging) version in one of the exercises of REGROUP, our well-done team building.
