This is good news for Africa because of the massive investment opportunities and jobs it will bring into the entertainment industry, leading to growth. However, this brings to fore the need for Africa to build the necessary infrastructure. Live music thrives on good infrastructure like arenas, stadia and theatres. 🏛️ How many O2 Arena's do we have in Africa? How many Madison Squares?🏟️ Particularly in Nigeria that boasts to be the bastion of Afrobeats, Africa's championing sound, how many standard facilities can the country boast off? However, I commend Live Nation Entertainment for believing in Africa and for this bold move. Its plan to build a 12,000 capacity structure in Lagos is a testament to its belief in Africa's potential. For decades, Africa's creative economy has thrived solely on its immediate creators. With Nigeria recently becoming the world's sixth largest music exporting country, behind giants such as the USA, UK, Colombia and South Korea, it's important to recognize that Africa's creative industry is full of potential. However, one question remains: how involved is the financial sector? In an article shared on Nigerian tech media TechCabal, Tochi Louis founder of The Jollof Diary, a data, business and market intelligence platform for the creative economy and music sector in Africa interviewed other key players in the field. Wakiuru Njuguna , Managing Director of HEVA Fund, spoke about the financial sector's skepticism towards the African creative industry. What do you think of her point of view ? -————- We are Fanaka&Co, your partner in the design and implementation of public policies to support the development of the private sector in Africa.

Back in Kenya, reminiscing about my experience at the Kampala International Theatre Festival last week. What a week for Theatre productions in Africa. I was attending as part of the team for the award winning Kenyan story production "The Big Boys of Shibale" directed by the talented Mark Nyongesa. When was the last time you visited a cultural Centre? Watched a play? Visited the museum? Went to the Theatre? The Festival, organized by Tebere Arts Foundation and Uganda National Cultural Centre brought together Artists from all over Africa for a whole week of workshops and performances and celebrating Africa's literary works My take aways from the Festival: 1. Art is really celebrated in Uganda. They have cultural centre's in different areas that support Art. It's not as easy to find artistic spaces that nurture talent without gate keeping. 2. Africa's Art is heavier than the black hole, deeper than the ocean. The Artists within this continent are creatively blessed contextually and conceptually. Art that shifts mentality, inspires creativity and evokes change. 3. Art is the surest tool for advocacy and awareness. There were great pieces ranging from cultural development, fight against GBV, corruption, etc. 4. African youths need more frequent festivals as a way of connecting. Even as we push for AFCFTA we'll need social connections that can be created and maintained by activities such as Kampala International Theatre Festival. 5. Traveling across Africa should be cheap. It can be so expensive moving around making it hard to interact with Africans. Enjoy some art today, good for your soul. #ArtForEducation #ArtForLifestile #TheatreProductions

The Power of Accommodation "Room for one, room for all." Accommodation is a step further than tolerance, it’s the intentional act of creating space for others. The Gwari and Hausa communities in Abuja have shown how shared governance and compromise can lead to peaceful coexistence. By rotating leadership roles, they ensure inclusivity in decision-making. Think of Nollywood, a unifying cultural force where filmmakers from different regions collaborate. By accommodating diverse narratives, they project a unified Nigerian story to the world. Accommodation reflects the Nigerian spirit of ‘Ubuntu’ ( South Africa) "I am because we are." Our unity is strengthened when we give others room to thrive. ( Humanity Towards Others). Poser: Empathy transforms coexistence into understanding. Tomorrow, we’ll explore its transformative power in Nigerian communities." 💡Did you know that the land for the National Council of Arts and Culture🇳🇬 was allotted during the 18th meeting of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations in 2003? Despite facing challenges, including a fire incident in 2017, the spirit of resilience prevails, igniting a new vision for its revitalization. 😔At present, the site hosts charming huts displaying various arts and crafts, but its vast potential remains largely untapped. Imagine transforming the open-air theatre into a vibrant stage for festivals, cultural fashion shows, and traditional song and dance performances. Envision the space as a melting pot of creativity, where visitors can immerse themselves in Nigeria's rich artistic heritage. 💱Beyond its cultural significance, investing in the Council for Arts and Culture presents exciting economic prospects. By leveraging revenue streams from ticket sales, merchandising, and food events, we can create sustainable avenues to support local creatives and educate people about Nigeria's unique artistry. 🧨I eagerly anticipate the leadership of the new Director-General, Obi Asika whose vision and expertise hold promise for revitalizing this space. With over 200 ethnic groups calling Nigeria home and boasting the largest dye pit in the world, the opportunities for cultural exchange and celebration are boundless and also the alignment of cultural diversity with democracy, fostering unity amidst Nigeria's vibrant political landscape. 🤝In moving forward, avenues for securing grants, fundraising efforts, and collaborations with international organizations to facilitate cultural exchanges will breathe new life into the Council for Arts and Culture, transforming it into a world of creativity, education, and unity. I'm excited to contribute my expertise and collaborate with like-minded individuals to make this vision a reality. #Nigeria #artsandculture #Culture #creativeeconomy #UnityThroughDiversity 🌍 UNESCO USAID Creativecities World Economic Forum British Council World Cities Culture Forum ICCROM NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR ARTS AND CULTURE
