What milestones are you celebrating this season? For us at the WIPO Nigeria Office, we are thrilled to look back on initiatives with the Nigerian Government towards advancing intellectual property (IP) awareness in Nigeria. Among these initiatives is the WIPO Branding Project for SMEs in Nigeria. The project, organized in partnership with the Nigerian Trademarks Registry was officially launched on September 24, 2024, with an Information Roundtable and onboarding of the 60 selected SMEs https://lnkd.in/dsPp2fGd                                                                                                                                                               The project aims to empower the SMEs, through the WIPO IP Management Clinics, with the knowledge and skill needed to utilize IP for business growth. #wipoNigeria #SMEs #2024

Rebecca Osewa is the founder and CEO of Yield Initiatives, a non-profit focused on revitalizing Nigeria's cotton supply chain through sustainable practices and improving farmers' livelihoods.   Raised in London, Rebecca reconnected with her African roots during her fashion studies, where she explored African textiles. Opening her first studio revealed a critical issue in the industry—the broken supply chain, particularly concerning cotton production.   To tackle this challenge, Rebecca is focusing on the strategic use of trademarks to help build global recognition for Nigerian cotton, positioning it as both sustainable and premium. This approach not only highlights the unique value of Nigerian cotton but also opens doors for greater economic opportunities for farmers. Rebecca honed her IP expertise through the IP and Business Coaching Program for Young Women-led Businesses, a project led by @WIPO and @ITC. Rebecca is one of 10 women entrepreneurs who have successfully leveraged this training to propel their businesses into a new era of growth and development. What will you remember 2024 for? As the year draws to an end, we reflect on some of our unforgettable moments in 2024. One of such moments was the WIPO Nigeria Intellectual Property and Women Business Summit which held on March 28, 2024. We won't be forgetting in a hurry the bountiful energy, insightful conversations and tangible rapport, as over six hundred women gathered in-person and online to engage enthusiastically on IP and Business. We eagerly look forward to the next edition of the IP and Women Business Summit, which holds in March 2025.
