We are thrilled to collaborate with Australian Development Capital Brunsdon Studio and Breathe on the Price St Apartments project in Perth. This residential development is currently in the design phase, showcasing unique structural challenges and innovative solutions. The project includes one level of basement on a common podium, with the entire façade constructed of brick. To expedite construction and enhance the building's sustainability, we have opted for a non-load-bearing brick façade. This approach significantly reduces material usage compared to a traditional load-bearing brick structure, resulting in substantial material savings. Our solution not only accelerates the construction timeline but also aligns with our commitment to sustainable building practices. Our structural engineering services ensure that Price St will be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. By integrating advanced engineering techniques, we aim to create a design that meets the project's requirements while promoting efficiency and sustainability. The non-load-bearing brick façade is a testament to our innovative approach, balancing structural integrity with environmental considerations. We are excited to see Price Street evolve into a sustainable residential development that exemplifies cutting-edge design and engineering solutions. ASP Access Floors International congratulates Hines Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCB) Icon on the magnificent Compressed Laminate Timber Construction T3 38 Wellington Street Collingwood Australia. We are proud to have been selected to design, manufacture, supply and install the sustainable access floor system into the commercial environment that offers tenancy flexibility for the developer within a modern commercial infrastructure. Our Access Floor System offers unhindered accessibility to power and data ensuring morph ability of the system throughout the lifespan of the build. With some CLT design and structure (of old) having a lifespan greater than 500 years, as does the access floor design concept, architects can leverage design options in timber and porcelains utilizing magnetic technology which eliminate substrates (ASP Magnes, ASP Eclipse). Substrates, when removed, may shorten the lifespan of the access floor system, as tenancies change, design changes, revision of open workspaces occur. The ASP Icon and Urban Access Floor Systems contain a 97% recycled content thereby delivering an EPD International AB EPD Australasia and attributing to measurements in LEED Certification Green Building Council of Australia U.S. Green Building Council. The system also offers acoustic benefits with 'real-time' CLT Environment Testing for the commercial environment : unparalleled research of an access floor system within a commercial environment. We are honored to have been part of this project that offers sustainable solutions that contribute to creating a Carbon Neutral Footprint. #sustainableconstruction #sustainabledevelopment #sustainablearchitecture #commercialconstruction #commercialarchitecture #commercialdevelopment #epd #accessfloor #raisedaccessfloor #architect #construction #carbonoffset #timberconstruction

New shapes… Hudson Architects are design lead for the next phase of an innovative new community hub project in Kings Lynn. The initiative involves an imaginative retrofit of an existing but disused retail building transforming it into a sustainable, low carbon, public library and neighbourhood focal point located in the heart of King’s Lynn. Taking the constraints of the existing reinforced concrete structure, we undertook a process of balancing demolition with the requirements of a revised form. The new shape of the building works hard to limit embodied carbon, achieve efficient use of new materials, maximise internal daylight through minimal intervention, improve the flow of the local public realm, and reveal lost views of the neighbouring historic artefacts. Funded in part through King’s Lynn Town Deal and spearheaded by Norfolk County Council, this ambitious project is led by Mace Interiors, in collaboration with Turner & Townsend, Hudson Architects, Elliott Wood, and Hoare Lea. #Architecture #Design #Norfolk

In the evolving landscape of architecture and construction, design teams are increasingly leveraging tall mass timber code provisions to expose the beauty and functionality of timber in innovative ways. With over 80% of current design projects utilizing these new provisions falling within the six- to twelve-story range, we’re witnessing a transformative shift towards sustainable, aesthetic, and resilient building practices. Mass timber is not just about structural integrity; it’s about enhancing the user experience through warm, natural materials that create inviting spaces. By maximizing timber exposure, architects and builders can craft environments that are not only visually stunning but also promote well-being and sustainability. Here at Cornerstone Timberframes, we’re at the forefront of this movement, collaborating with teams across Canada and the U.S. Our expertise in navigating the complexities of these codes enables us to unlock the full potential of timber in modern design. Are you considering mass timber for your next project? Let’s connect!

APPROVED PROJECT UPDATE. As a practice, Keystone Architecture & Design are committed to creating sustainable and energy-efficient homes that contribute positively to the built environment. This project. Erection of three dwellings, construction of improved vehicular access and closure of existing vehicular access in a location within the Forest of Dean District. A search of Forest of Dean District Council’s online planning register shows a fairly long planning history associated with this site. Permission was granted for this project. Why was this? The site plans have been amended to make the new dwellings more energy efficient. Their improved fit within the site natural slope and orientation has increased the solar gain of each plot, as the energy produced via PV roof panels, reducing overall their energy demand and consumption. For Plots 1 & 2. We reviewed the position allowing the dwellings to sit lower and more integrated within site ground levels and the internal design changed to benefit of more liveable space. For Plot 3. Amongst the changes we made was that the building is now tilting away from the orthogonal grid of the rest of the site to pursue a more natural positioning within the site gradient and to benefit of a greater natural solar gain. AND we revised elevations bring a harmonious and more balanced look. All dwellings are to be rendered and the roof will be in slate. The main proposed alterations comprise the orientation of the dwellings to favour of a greater efficiency in terms of renewable energies and natural solar gain. This approved project includes energy efficient and sustainable construction and plant and also included a bat corridor and boxes, a sparrow terrace, ecology and wildlife enhancements as well as public rights-of-way mapping. We have designed these new homes with sustainability at front of mind and considered the locality, local environment and surroundings. 077 52 97 92 44 www.keystonead.co.uk #WorcestershireHour #Architects #LowCarbonHousing, #Passivhaus #architecture #architect #architecturelovers #archdaily #architectural #architecturedesign #houserenovation #ecohomes #sustainablearchitecture #historicarchitecture #architecturedesigns #visualarchitects #CambridgeHomes #Cambridgedesign #EnerPHit #EnergyEfficient #BuildingRenovation #PassiveHouse #SustainableRenovation #EcoRenovation #GreenBuilding #LowEnergyBuilding #cotswoldconstruction #cotswoldhomes #cotswoldliving #lowcarbonconstruction

"It’s a different framework of thinking. It pushes you to do things that you wouldn’t have thought to do. It pushes you to evaluate spaces that you thought you didn’t like to see if you can make them work in a way that you do like. How little can I do to make this work?" Thought-provoking interview with architect Julie Eizenberg on the the importance of retrofitting and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. At SFN we agree that working under heritage constraints can be challenging but one that our team relishes in our commercial and residential construction projects. Often those buildings become your most memorable work. Via: ArchitectureAU #sfnbuild #residentialbuilders #commercialbuilders #heritage #adaptivereuse

On site progress - quicker than planning… Seeing these projects progress is what makes architecture so interesting if a little challenging along the way. Our projects are all unique to our clients, their brief and location. This diversity along with various design stages (concept through to completion) makes our day to day different every day and motivates us all. What motivates you?
As the year ends, reviewing progress on site In the run up to Christmas, we will be sharing some updates on our various projects currently on site, from one-off houses to farm redevelopments and London super-prime villas. Our studios in London Winchester and Chamonix are always looking to add value to all stages of Construction, and our experience across many different scales and project typologies ensures we are aways on hand to help problems solve.
