The dream of homeownership shouldn't be limited by race. But the reality is that discriminatory practices like redlining - where neighborhoods were denied financial services based on race - have created a lasting impact on communities of color. Decades ago, redlining prevented Black families from accessing mortgages and building wealth through homeownership. This systemic disinvestment continues to shape our communities today. At Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, we believe everyone deserves a decent place to live. That's why we're advocating for policies and resources that create a level playing field for homeownership. We build affordable housing and empower families to achieve the dream of homeownership. By donating, you can join us in building a future where race doesn't determine your chance to succeed. According to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Housing Needs Assessment, household growth has outpaced housing growth since 2013. There is a huge shortage of affordable housing in Georgia, leading many lower-income families to rent. However, rents are also increasing with high demand, leaving low-income families in a precarious position. To keep costs low for the families we serve, Habitat for Humanity offers zero-interest mortgages. Combined with the generosity of sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we are able to help families make their dream of homeownership a reality. We can't do it alone. To partner with us in our mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, consider donating today. https://lnkd.in/eqXTfini #affordablehousing #homeownership #americandream #habitatforhumanity #strongertogether #partnership

Today on Giving Tuesday, it’s essential to recognize the critical role that stable, affordable housing plays in the lives of Mississippi residents. The availability of quality, affordable housing has been a persistent challenge for the people of Mississippi. Even when housing is available, families are forced to make hard decisions between paying rent and acquiring other necessities like food and healthcare. In fact, a minimum wage earning Mississippian has to work 93 hours a week to afford a modest, one bedroom rental at fair market rent. These harsh realities, coupled with racialized housing discrimination, impedes economic growth and productive living. At MCJ, we understand that the return on an investment in quality, affordable housing is invaluable and essential to the foundation of stability for our community. Donate today: https://bit.ly/3CZ7xvi This Giving Tuesday, I invite you to join us to address housing discrimination across the state. In addition to supporting MCJ, your generous donation will champion our housing advocacy efforts, enabling us to: •advocate for policy changes that protect and promote affordable housing and prevent evictions. •provide essential support services to help families maintain stable housing. •inform the community of their housing rights through outreach and education.

Together, we're bringing hope and stability to those in the Roanoke Valley who are facing homelessness or housing insecurity. Through collaborative efforts, we're committed to ensuring that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-reoccurring. In 2023, our three housing programs made a significant impact, providing nearly $400,000 in financial assistance for rent and utility support. This support prevented homelessness and secured housing for 286 households, including 98 children. But our work extends beyond numbers; it's transforming lives. Each statistic represents a story of hope and resilience. However, the need in the Roanoke Valley remains urgent. As housing costs soar and economic uncertainties persist, more individuals and families need help. Your donation supports our efforts to continue to provide these vital services, increase the effectiveness of our existing programs, and help us serve more individuals and families across the Roanoke Valley. TOMORROW is the BIG DAY! GIVE now at https://lnkd.in/d6vkz9tN #giveroanoke2024

Looking to make a meaningful impact on Giving Tuesday? Please consider giving to Arlington Thrive, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, holistic support to families in need of financial, early childhood, and personalized services to foster long term self-sufficiency. As Treasurer, I see first hand the increasing need and limited funding. Over 51% of South Arlington residents can not afford basic needs due to inflation and reduced safety net programs. Arlington's home ownership rate is 42% compared to a 73% national average, making many more households vulnerable to eviction. Homelessness is up 33% in Arlington. Every little bit goes a long way. Only $100 keeps the heat on for a family struggling to pay utility bills. $250 provides a senior with medications, ensuring their health and well-being. $500 covers a security deposit or a month of rental support to prevent homelessness. Do you want to help unlock stability for a family in Arlington this season? Please join me in donating here - https://lnkd.in/eWXwKEDM #UnlockStability #OneGiftOneFamily #ThriveTogether

Atlantans are currently spending 42% of their income on rent, leaving them vulnerable to homelessness after even a single crisis. This situation requires us all to take action, so we launched FreeRentATL to bring awareness to the widening wealth gap and offer crucial support to struggling renting families in Atlanta. Through our nonprofit we give these families a hand up, to help stabilize them and provide services that help them succeed and avoid future housing jeopardy. This year seven amazing families are receiving free rent for an entire year, in addition to financial literacy, food, and mental health and well-being services. Next year we will provide this to 25 families. Meet Sanquin one our of incredible recipients building his family back up after the tragic passing of his partner and child https://lnkd.in/esdVVeQE.
