A house is only as strong as its foundation — and the same goes for your product. The key is to strike a balance between speed and stability. → Move fast, but make sure you're building on the right scaffolding. → Choose the right data structures and entity models from the get-go. That way, when it's time to scale, you're ready to add that second or third story. You're not stuck rebuilding from scratch because your foundation couldn't handle the weight. It's a lesson that applies to more than just product development. In life and in business, a strong foundation is everything. Lay the groundwork now, and you'll be set up for success down the line. — What steps are you taking to ensure your product (or your life) is built on solid ground? Shoutout to Tal Saraf for joining on this week’s episode of MVP! Full episode here: minimumviablepodcast.com

Getting your metrics wrong leads to spaghetti testing, AKA “throw it at the wall and see what sticks”. Choosing the right primary metric is a foundational aspect of good hypothesis writing. Me and Iqbal Ali get into it in a new episode of the CRO Talks Podcast:
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰? - 𝗖𝗥𝗢 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 - 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟮𝟱 In our latest episode, Matt Beischel and Iqbal Ali dive into the complexities of choosing primary metrics for your experiments. Check out the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/ge2BmHxk Here are some key takeaways: • 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 != 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰: The primary metric is the most important, but not the only one. Guardrail metrics, which protect business-critical aspects, and secondary metrics, which provide context, are essential for a holistic view. • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: While conversion rate is crucial, it isn't always the primary metric. Depending on the context, other metrics like user behavior or revenue impact might take precedence. • 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Combining a primary user behavior metric with a primary business benefit metric ensures that changes drive both user engagement and business growth. • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: The primary metric should be defined within the specific context of the experiment. What works for one test might not apply to another, so flexibility and context are key. • 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: Pay-for-performance models can lead to gaming the system. Instead, focus on metrics that align with long-term business goals rather than short-term wins. #CRO #Metrics #ConversionRateOptimization

What is the relation between MS Dhoni and Product Discovery? I was listening to a Product Discovery podcast over the weekend, and here's what stood out: Every product's backlog is like a list of bets. For some bets, you get to research and discover more about them; for others, you have to shoot blind and hope for the best. You can't avoid these blind shots, but you can improve your chances of getting them right. How? By following proper discovery techniques and processes whenever you can. As you train your mind by doing more discovery, it sharpens your decision-making skills, significantly increasing your success with those blind bets. You start thinking more like your customers/users. Over time, you'll make more informed decisions, improving your overall success rate. Your blind bets will start landing more accurately. Let's make Product Discovery a healthy habit. That's precisely what Thala says: "Due Process. Due Results."

Knowledge alone has little value. You need wisdom to know how to effectively apply what you know 🧐 There's a critical distinction between knowledge and wisdom in the marketing world, and in this episode of the Stay Hungry pod, Andy and Joel discuss just that. Listen to this episode to learn the importance of experimentation, learning from failures, and developing a deep understanding of your customers' needs.
