Some time ago I got opportunity to see this inspiring video of Mrs. Frederiksen presenting us the concept of "distributed" leadership and building the dynamic, multidimensional networks of leaders, which empowers everyone's knowledge and creativity. This speech is already 2 years old, however today in even more demanding business environment it can be more relevant than ever. Leadership not as a hierarchy but the corporate culture promoting: trust, shared responsibility, support and proactiveness ? For some still SF for others a recipe for success.. and what are your thoughts on this topic ? 🤔 https://lnkd.in/dAE4_gT7 #Leadership #ModernManagement #Trust #Business

💡 We can be intentional about the type of leader we want to be and we don't have to be in a position of power to lead. 🧩 Some really interesting concepts in the video below on rethinking the view of who the leaders should be in our organisations and how to leverage the thinking of many. I particularly like the idea of sharing everything to provide the context people need. 👇 Drop a comment and let me know what stood out to you! #leadership #everyoneisaleader #intentionalleadership #networknothierarchy https://lnkd.in/gEA-hKmz

#influence of the many, a #network of #leadership, rather than influence based on an org chart. Many companies use middle managers to support top down messages, that’s ok, but I prefer to support this view of Gitte Frederiksen on TED Conferences TEDx Don’t rely on the org chart and rather on respected profiles across the organization at any level. Be aware, accept and use this influence reality in your advantage as a formal way to address your organisation and more successful in influencing your staff. #leadership #influence

How to move to a sustainable leadership culture? Listen to Gitte‘s inspiring talk is a time well spent. Working in tandem, Nicole and I intuitively took this approach with our team. We have not only very good results, but also fun at work. Of course sometimes there are setbacks, together we can deal with such tough times better. #openness #trust #bettertogether #co-lead #newwaysofwork

53. Is it #Leaderful: Leadership as a Network For the new year in this installment of the “Is it #Leaderful” series, I thought I would unveil a Ted Talk that has been recommended to me, asking if it qualifies as “leaderful.” It features Gitte Frederiksen and is entitled: “Great Leadership is a Network, Not a Hierarchy.” http://t.ted.com/XT3zMri Indeed, it has many features consistent with the four C’s of leaderful practice. The overriding message in Gitte’s talk to “let go of power,” is consistent with CONCURRENT leadership in which everyone is released to participate in leadership at the same time. Among her principles, “letting go of labels” is a step in COLLECTIVE leadership whereby people assume particular leadership roles when needed. Her advice to “share everything” is compatible with COLLABORATIVE leadership wherein participants co-create the enterprise. And lastly, her exhortation to “be nice to each other” is a form of COMPASSIONATE leadership in which we extend unadulterated commitment to preserving the dignity of everyone in our organization. What other elements should be named to complement Gitte’s overview? My main addition would be to stress some of the collectively reflective components in leaderful practice, especially the learning and dialogue factors, to recognize and release people’s fears of engagement and of “not knowing.” In the first instance, we need to consistently examine our fundamental assumptions behind our reasoning, even our premises, to expose all the dimensions of a given task or problem. Secondly, we not only wish to share our reflections but to solicit those of others. We’re interested in the values being manifested, whether there are discrepancies between what is being said and what is being done, and even exploring the forces below the surface that may be unwittingly shaping our practices. #collectiveleadership #collaborativeleadership
