Let’s take this opportunity to educate ourselves and others, spark meaningful conversations, and break down stigma. This year’s theme, “Community is… what we create together,” reminds us of the power of connection. Together, we can define, build, and celebrate the vibrant communities that uplift us all. Women play a vital role in our communities, and prioritising women's health is essential for building strong, supportive environments. Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi. The bad things said about Mental Health Providers. - The term ‘Mental Health Provider’ is supposed to be positive. A company designed to provide mental health support to people that need it. SURELY, that’s good. Yet I could write a book about all the negative stuff I’ve been told about certain providers. From the perspective of those: 📢 Using it 📢 Selling it 📢 Buying it 📢 Working for it 📢 Promoting it internally So… those voices helped shape our program. Creating something 𝐄𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄, that is designed to be 𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃. Because mental health support should never be compromised. We support #WorldMentalHealthDay2024. 🤝 We all spend so much of our lives at work—whether in the community, at home, or in an office. But it's more than just a job for those working in health and social care. It’s about being there for others in some of their most vulnerable moments, offering not only care but emotional support, compassion, and understanding. When carers take time to care for their own mental well-being, it’s not just about feeling better—it’s about being there, fully, for the people who need them. Those moments of connection and the trust they build become much more meaningful. In workplaces prioritising mental health, carers feel supported to be themselves—to bring their whole heart to their work. Movember: Taking Action on Men’s Mental Health Movember is more than just moustaches; it’s a powerful reminder that men’s mental health deserves our attention and action. By raising awareness, challenging stereotypes, and providing support, we can help create a world where men feel empowered to prioritise their mental wellbeing and seek help without hesitation. The Silent Struggle. It’s a tragic reality that men are far more likely to die by suicide than women. This disparity is a complex issue influenced by societal expectations and traditional gender roles that lead to a reluctance to seek help. Men are often taught to suppress their emotions, to be “strong” and “stoic,” which can create a dangerous internal pressure cooker. There’s still a stigma around mental health. A stigma that prevents people from speaking out, getting help, and making a change. I want to take steps towards tackling that stigma and providing the support that our colleagues deserve. That’s why at Aldi UK, we’re continuing our work with Mental Health UK, to reassure our colleagues that they have access to the support they need, whenever they need it. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, it’s a small step. But it’s a step in the right direction, and one that puts our people first. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MentalHealthUK #TeamAldi
