This November, California voters will decide on Proposition 5, a crucial constitutional amendment that EAH Housing strongly supports. This measure proposes lowering the voter approval threshold for local bonds funding affordable housing and public infrastructure from 66% to 55%, making it easier to secure funding for essential projects. Proposition 5 would also require annual audits to ensure that funds are used appropriately. Originally introduced as Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 1 by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguilar-Curry, this proposition has garnered support from EAH Housing and a wide range of housing and labor organizations. #Prop5 #AffordableHousing #PublicInfrastructure #CA2024Ballot

In the lead-up to the provincial election, we're working hard at BCREA to get critical housing issues into the public dialog. Let's get the parties answering the hard questions on housing to help voters decide where to vote! In coming weeks we'll be doing a lot of media around 5 issues of concern: 1: The need for expanded trades education. 2: The call for housing tax reform. 3: Needed exemptions amidst the short term rental restrictions. 4: The establishment of a permanent housing roundtable of market/non-market/Indigenous housing policy experts. 5: Issues with the new tenancy rules. The Government has today responded to my Written Parliamentary Question on whether they intend to bring into force s.73B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and if so when. In short: they're still figuring it out. I hope the position is resolved soon, whether by this or by new legislation, as the effects of recent(ish) caselaw such as Finney & Hillside and the limitations of s73, s.73A and s.96A are causing significant challenges for large developments that invariably require adjustments to their consent over the many years over which they are rolled out, to deal with inevitable changes of circumstances. https://lnkd.in/eVGSyyYB #planning Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

Yesterday, the Chamber of Deputies approved a housing reform aimed at creating a system for affordable homeownership and a rent-to-own program. While the reform is anticipated to be published in the official gazette next week, following approval by the Senate and state legislatures, additional secondary legislation will still be required to fully implement the new law. This next phase will address the specific details and regulations necessary to operationalize the reform. #HousingReform #MexicoReform #Reform #INFONAVIT #Mexico #GlobalNexus You can check some further details on the image below:

4 days before the BC election, the costed conservative platform was finally released. Increased deficits to start, balance around 2030 - 2032. As for housing, a lot of posturing and specific is the STEP Code requirement for building and zoning Bill 44 provisions. There is also a commitment to look at and reduce DCC's and permitting time but a lot to dig through. Overall, where does the end buyer end up? It's all about delivering housing to the market, and the impacts of any changes are 12 months + out.

The 2024 Legislative Session had an inordinate number of bills proposed to incentivize the construction of housing (particularly low- and middle-income housing) in Connecticut with a number of “big ideas” that grabbed headlines. The most significant of these proposals failed to pass both the House and the Senate, but there were some new housing incentives that did pass. Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/eXBpHnGh
