Do You Volunteer? I often do voluntary service and always enjoy it and get to know many amazing people. Just last week, we helped organize a space for Fundacja Kocham Dębniki an incredible initiative in collaboration with EPAM Systems. Volunteering can positively influence our well-being 🙏 According to research, "Volunteerism is a key form of community involvement that can provide both physical and mental health benefits for volunteers as well as positive outcomes for the community. However, volunteers become involved for different reasons and recent studies suggest that other-oriented volunteers may accrue greater health benefits than self-oriented volunteers" (Stukas, A. A., Hoye, R., et al., 2016). Check it out for yourself 😎 https://lnkd.in/d6gV-Yas https://lnkd.in/dMTkYx2J #Volunteering #MentalHealth #CommunityService #SocialImpact #PersonalGrowth

In times of crisis, volunteering becomes more critical than ever. By offering our time and skills, we can provide invaluable support to those in need and foster a sense of community resilience. However, it's important to recognize that excessive volunteering might be a way of responding to stress. While helping others is commendable, we must also ensure we are taking care of our own mental and physical health. Balance is key to sustainable support and personal well-being. #Volunteering #CrisisResponse #CommunitySupport #MentalHealth

Participation in volunteering is an excellent way for autistic people to contribute to the social and economic life of their community, to build their confidence and self-belief, and to thrive in life. Autistic people, through their diversity, can bring valuable and unique skills and experience to the volunteering sector. However, to make this experience positive, we need to firstly understand the barriers to volunteering that currently exist for autistic people and then work together to overcome these barriers. The benefits of a truly diverse volunteer organisation, that includes autistic volunteers, are immense for both the volunteer and the volunteer organisation. Empower Autism and Volunteering Queensland have developed practical tools, tips and information aimed at building the capacity of volunteer organisations to attract, engage, support and retain autistic volunteers. The guide takes you through three steps, each aiming to provide you with simple and practical tools to increase your organisations accessibility and engagement with the autistic community. If you are an organisation jump over to our website and take a look at these free resources to support your autistic volunteers to thrive within your organisation https://lnkd.in/e-YAtTU8 Volunteering Queensland #volunteering #volunteersrock

This week is #LonelinessAwarenessWeek. Campaign to End Loneliness reports recent research showing that disabled people in the UK are more likely to feel substantially lonely (25%), compared to adults with no disability (6%). Our Listening Service was first introduced at the beginning of the pandemic lockdown in March 2020 as our normal face-to-face and home visiting services had to be suspended - we wanted to give our clients reassurance that we were still there for them at the end of the phone to help if they needed it. We received very appreciative feedback from those we spoke to with quite a few commenting that we were the first agency to reach out to them. It struck us that this was a great way of keeping in touch with clients on our database so we can ascertain if they need our help again and, just as importantly, make them feel that someone out there cares. So we decided to keep it going and it is largely run today by our marvellous volunteers. If you want to find out about volunteering: 01394 387070 (don’t forget to leave a message if we don’t answer - we’ll always come back to you) or advice@daseastsuffolk.org . . #combattingloneliness #combattingisolation #lonelinessawareness #listeningservice #disabilityandloneliness #volunteering #volunteeropportunities #disabilityadvice #daseastsuffolk

Happy #VolunteersWeek! We're celebrating the incredible volunteers who keep our communities thriving. From governance to advocacy, their dedication strengthens the sector. 🙌 Here are some findings from NCVO's 2023 Time Well Spent Report: 🔹 Volunteering remotely is now commonplace. Almost a third of volunteers (31%) say they volunteer online or over the phone. 🔹 The most common volunteer areas are health and social wellfare; local community and neighbourhood groups; and arts and recreation. 🔹'Not feeling pressured to give more time' is important for volunteers – they want to feel they are giving their time freely, without unreasonable expectations placed upon them. 🔹92% of volunteers are very or fairly satisfied with their experience, stating that they enjoy it, it gives them a sense of personal achievement and helps them to feel they are making a difference. Have you participated in any volunteer activities this year? Share your experiences in the comments. 🤝 #VolunteersWeek40

Visit this link https://lnkd.in/eFaqE8T5 for more information on what items can go into these bags and how to get involved. If you're looking to get involved as a group, this is a great way to start! #HealingTransitions #Volunteer #LongTermRecovery #Recovery
