With electrification plans in full flow, what a wonderful milestone this is to stop and reflect. JLR have now trained more than 20,000 colleagues and partners in electrification and digital skills as part of its Future Skills Programme! This is around: ☑ 2,400 manufacturing employees in EV skills across UK production facilities. ☑ 95% of JLR’s retail partner technicians. ☑ 3,000 engineers trained in electrification. ☑ 2,500 in data and digital. ☑ 4,200 JLR and retail partner apprentices and Early Careers employees currently in training. This is SO important to ensure teams across our entire ecosystem are ready. It goes hand in hand with the work we’re doing to transform our facilities for EV production - training is currently underway for 11,000 JLR manufacturing colleagues to build BEVs. As part of the programme, another 15,000 colleagues across manufacturing, engineering and workshops will be trained. Our people are vital to our shared success and programmes like these help to support and empower them with new skills needed for an electric industry 👏 #OneTeam #Electrification #FutureSkills #Talent #Transformation #Culture #IndustrialOperations #Manufacturing

The Strategy of Updating Ourselves in the Automotive Industry In the fast-evolving automotive industry, staying still is not an option. Every day, new technologies, tools, and methods emerge, challenging us to adapt and grow. As professionals, it’s our responsibility to embrace continuous learning as a strategy, not just an afterthought. In my experience, especially in roles like technical trainer and diagnostic specialist, I’ve realized that the skills we rely on today can become obsolete tomorrow. Whether it’s the rise of electric vehicles, AI-driven diagnostics, or advancements in automatic transmissions, keeping up-to-date is no longer just a career boost—it’s a necessity. So, how can we approach this? 1. Be Proactive: Don’t wait for a problem to learn something new. Invest time in training, certifications, and hands-on experience before the need arises. 2. Leverage Resources: Utilize online platforms, technical academies, and industry forums to stay connected to the latest trends and tools. 3. Share Knowledge: Teaching others is one of the best ways to refine your understanding. When we share, we grow together as a team and as an industry. 4. Stay Curious: Ask questions, experiment, and stay curious about how things work and why new technologies are being developed. In this industry, success comes to those who evolve with the times. Let’s embrace the challenge of constant learning and build a future where innovation and expertise go hand in hand. What strategies have you used to stay updated in your career? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #AutomotiveIndustry #ContinuousLearning #EVDiagnostics #AutomotiveInnovation #ProfessionalGrowth

The first-ever Automotive Work Experience Week (AWE), led by the School of Thought (Automotive), The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), and Autotech Academy, successfully ignited a critical conversation within the automotive sector. Held across one week in April, AWE aimed to address the pressing skills gap affecting the industry, which currently stands at almost 18,000. The initiative captured significant attention, generating over 8,000 visits to the School of Thought Automotive’s website during the week. While AWE served as a vehicle to promote work experience and encourage company participation, moving forward, it will become the Automotive Work Experience (AWE) Programme - a platform to highlight the importance of careers within the automotive industry. Providing young people with 'experiences of the workplace' also supports Gatsby Benchmark 6 which encapsulates the need for every student to have the opportunity for work experience by the age of 16 and an additional opportunity by age 18. #AutomotiveAftermarket #AftermarketNews #AutomotiveInEducation #AftermarketJobs
