A huge thank you to our two initial pledgers, including @Turnstyle Designs Ltd, for helping us reach our target in the Big Give campaign! 🎉🐾 Your incredible support has made a real difference, and thanks to you, we are now one step closer to expanding our efforts. With your help, we can build on the success of the pine marten reintroduction on Dartmoor and work towards bringing these amazing creatures back to Exmoor soon. Your generosity is vital in making this possible, and without you, we wouldn't have reached this milestone. Together, we’re taking an important step towards restoring a key part of our native wildlife and enhancing the health of our woodlands. Thank you once again for being part of this important journey! 📷: Terry Whittaker/2020VISION

What happens when we bring communities together to help nature flourish? 💚 Published today, The Wildlife Trusts' report reveals the striking results of the Nextdoor Nature project, which was made possible thanks to £5 million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. 👐 For us, this funding allowed us to recruit two Wilder Communities Officers, Patrick and Helen, who worked alongside communities in the Priorswood and Holway areas of Taunton and the Westfield and Milford park area of Yeovil. Their work focused on being present in communities, listening to ideas, and helping to bring those ideas to life in a practical way. Ponds were dug and repaired, pollinator beds planted, bug hotels built, and bats monitored — the dedication of so many brilliant people working together for nature left Patrick and Helen feeling privileged to be part of their story. Although the Nextdoor Nature project has come to an end, its legacy lives on. In fact, Nextdoor Nature ran as one of the many projects that makes up Team Wilder, which feeds directly in to one of our vision for a Wilder Somerset 2030. What's Team Wilder? Well, in order for nature to recover, we need many more people on nature’s side. The science shows that if just 1 person in every 4 visibly takes action, this can be enough to change the minds and behaviour of the majority. 🌱 Find out more about Team Wilder, and how you can take action for nature: https://lnkd.in/eXb2qmRN 📊 Discover the impact of Nextdoor Nature: https://lnkd.in/ebhqUNxE #NationalLottery #NextdoorNature #Community #Wellbeing #Nature #Wildlife

🌍 Restoring the Earth, One Mangrove at a Time 🌍 Bare ground is the greatest threat on our Water Planet. Mangroves are crucial to whole-earth ecosystem management. They are more than just trees; they are the foundation for coastal ecosystems, providing nurseries for ocean life, releasing bioaerosols for cloud seeding, and jump-starting the biotic pump that fuels rainfall. Mangroves clean both our oceans and air of pollutants, acting as nature’s storm tamers, even mitigating the impact of hurricanes. These ecosystems are essential in broader strategies, like greening the Sahara Desert. See the incredible work being done along Tudor Creek, where locals are coming together to restore mangrove forests. Through a strong partnership with ClimatePartner, they’ve already replanted a quarter of the lost mangroves across 1,641 hectares. This drone footage highlights the significance of this work, but it’s only the beginning. Let’s continue supporting these vital efforts to heal and protect our planet. #EcosystemRestoration #MangroveRestoration #WholeEarthManagement #ClimateAction #GreenTheSahara #Biodiversity
Today, I would like to show my LinkedIn family, how Tudor Creek has lost it's large percentage of mangroves. Through our strong partnership with ClimatePartner, ClimatePartner Impact we have succeed planting a quarter of Tudor Creek. We were able to take this video with a drone to inform the world of how mangroves have been lost in this area of Tudor Creek. Tudor Creek mangroves covers 1,641Ha We have also been able to get support from several organizations around the world including Idea Wild, Gone West Global, Herpetofauna Foundation, Ecosystem Restoration Communities, @Global Green Grants, Leaving a Legacy, Plant-for-the-Planet, smallFEAT Education, The Pollination Project, e.t.c Nasrin Suleiman, Goumbook, Yalla Mangroves, Jesper Møller Sørensen, Jeroen M. Walking SA attended the Conservation SA 'Civil Society Lunch with the Premier'- a lunchtime discussion with the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas, about the needs of civil society to provide for healthy democracies. As a member of the conservation council, Walking SA were invited to participate in the discussion. Key takeaways are: * The need to strengthen civil society to find common ground and not enable divisive interests to prosper at the expense of the common good. * The role of nature, heritage and culture as fertile ground to bring people together and to ensure a sustainable and equitable future. * The need to reprioritise government spending to invest in the very things otherwise taken for granted - think re-distribution of wealth, preservation of natural resources and wild places, and environmental and cultural stewardship. Walking SA is proud to be part of critical discussions shaping the future of South Australia such as these. Find more about our advocacy: https://lnkd.in/gsZSucdk

WMSCOG Bay Walk Park Cleanup Long Island, NY #WMSCOG #baywalkparkcleanup #longislandny PORT WASHINGTON, NEW YORK — On July 28th, 2024, 27 volunteers of the World Mission Society Church of God are cleaning up the marine ecosystem at Bay Walk Park in partnership with the Manhasset Bay Protection Committee. In 2015 the United Nations adopted the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development and created the 17 Sustainable Development Goals we now have. This cleanup not only helps the environment on a local level but also supports 3 out of the 17 United Nations Sustainable goals [SDG’s]. The Manhasset Bay Protection Committee’s goals aligned with our goals to aid in the conservation of wildlife and the well-being of all mankind, locally, nationally and globally. As a matter of fact, this is the World Mission Society's 8,170th global cleanup. https://lnkd.in/gtc3W9u8

This week we mark the 75th anniversary of the 1949 National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act. The Act built the foundations for modern nature conservation, enshrining in law protections for our wild spaces. It led the way for our iconic network of National Landscapes, Parks and Trails (collectively known as Protected Landscapes). Which is your favourite? From the Peak District to Exmoor National Park, Protected Landscapes welcome almost 270 million visitors a year and are home to internationally important habitats and our most iconic species. All in, they contain half of England’s priority habits and Sites of Special Scientific Interest, 60% of deep peat and around 88% of heather and acid grassland habitats. This makes them vital to restore nature and boost the nation’s health through access to nature. Personally, a childhood trip to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, and visiting the vast open spaces of Northumberland, stand out in my memory. However, many of these landscapes are in a poor condition, with the wildlife that lives within their boundaries in steep decline and their waterways polluted. Did you know that less than 40% of rivers in National Parks are in good ecological status? This needs to be reversed and it is now more important than ever to invest in nature and protect these spaces. I had the privilege to support the English National Parks and the Broads Authority with an income generation feasibility and scoping project in 2023 with Philanthropy Company. Like many charities and other nonprofits, diversifying income streams is crucial for their ability to invest in nature restoration projects, and test and learn from other nature-based innovation iniatitives and campaigns. #Philanthropy #Nature #UKNationalParks National Parks UK

🐻 The brown bear finds itself in a constant threat due to man: both poaching and the loss of its habitat, caused by the expansion of human infrastructure, are putting its survival at risk. Immediate action can, however, still save it by preserving the wild spaces that are its refuge. 👉 This is why the Fondazione Capellino is financing the Tripoint Brown Bear (PPNEA) project, which winds along the majestic European Green Belt and aims to protect not only the Brown Bear, but also its entire ecosystem. 🌿 The actions of the project have involved local authorities and communities, crucial guardians for the protection and reconstruction of protected areas and crossing corridors, to guarantee the brown bear a future where we can roam free and safe. 🔎 The Tripoint Brown Bear project, like every project supported by the Fondazione Capellino, is made possible thanks to the allocation of 100% of Almo Nature's profits (after costs and taxes) and, therefore, thanks to everyone who chooses Almo Nature for their animal companions. By working together through partnerships we can help support our communities. In FY 2023, Reclamation invested $40,000 to help our Tucson partnership acquire 50 new water cisterns. Each cistern can hold 1,500 gallons of rainwater, empowering low-income residents to harvest rainwater for their outdoor landscaping. This initiative aims to boost the planting of native vegetation, cooling down some of Tucson's hottest spots and providing vital habitat for local wildlife. 🦋🌵 Learn more about this exciting program here: https://ow.ly/KQf850Ue3CE
