This Month, we are dedicating our efforts to the fight against poverty, aligning with one of the most critical Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1: No Poverty). Design Thinking is at the heart of our approach, as it allows us to create solutions that are deeply empathetic, innovative, and tailored to the specific needs of those affected by poverty. By focusing on understanding the lived experiences of individuals and communities, we can develop strategies that address the root causes of poverty, rather than just the symptoms. This month, we will be highlighting the power of Design Thinking in driving real change. We'll share inspiring stories, insights, and actionable strategies to empower everyone to contribute to this global challenge. Together, we can make a difference and work towards a world where poverty is no longer a reality for anyone. Join us in this important journey—let's design a future free from poverty! Get involved by sharing your ideas, participating in our activities, and spreading the word. Every action counts! #DesignThinking #EndPoverty #SDG1 #NoPoverty #SocialImpact #HumanCenteredDesign #InnovateForChange #EmpathyInAction #GlobalGoals #FightPoverty"

At Pure Bayanihan, we work tirelessly in making this a reality. Fighting poverty isn't about numbers – it's about giving people a chance to dream big and build lives they're proud of. When we help one person, we spark hope that spreads through entire communities. We've seen parents cry happy tears sending kids to school and people beam with pride starting businesses. We've felt the warmth of neighbors lifting each other up. Join us in turning tough times into triumphs and break free from the cycle of poverty. Today, I came across an article by Megan McArdle (The Washington Post) in the Greenwood Commonwealth and found it to be very insightful when talking about generational poverty and how to solve it in modern day USA. At the beginning of the article, McArdle writes about government checks and how, although helpful, they do not address the root causes of poverty. At The Box Project (Fighting Rural Poverty Since 1962), we work to enhance solutions as issues of poverty and community needs shift, but one thing has always been true about our organization: we do not merely provide money to help the poor; we invest in relationships between those in need and those who want to help. Our family sponsors provide advice and friendship in addition to material aid, opening up recipients to a world of possibilities and realities they never imagined. We connect people and instill confidence to help solve the issues of rural poverty rather than providing "a hand out." As McArdle says, "if we're serious about tackling intergenerational poverty, we need to be willing to contribute not just our funds, but ourselves." We could not agree more! Go give it a read! #ruralpoverty #poverty #fightingpoverty #povertyUSA #governmentfunding #governmentchecks #generationalpoverty #mississippidelta #povertyinmississippi #washingtonpost #insightfulread #research

Please join me in conversation with Rozina Haque in recognition of the collective, global effort to end poverty--October 17th. It is a day to pause and reflect on both the need and the opportunity. A recent World Bank study finds 26 of the poorest economies are poorer today on average than they were on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic, even as the rest of the world has largely recovered. But we will also come together to learn about proven success and hope--and how we can together, change the trajectory on poverty.
What is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty all about? Poverty has both visible and hidden forces. Individuals living in poverty often encounter discrimination, which can limit their access to basic needs like health care, education, and housing. This system perpetuates the cycle of poverty. But BRAC has a proven solution: And a plan to make it happen. Dive into this issue with us for a quick livestream on Thursday, October 17. Join BRAC USA’s President and CEO, Julia Roberts, and Rozina Haque, Associate Director of BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation program for a conversation about ending global poverty. 🌎 Plus, we’ll unveil a special new campaign to make it happen. Don’t miss out! Set a reminder for our livestream and join us on October 17th! Today marks the final day of our campaign for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, where we’ve been focusing on the systemic and structural roots of poverty. In this concluding video, we emphasise that meaningful participation of people experiencing poverty in policy-making is crucial to crafting policies that are not only sustainable but also socially impactful. The changes we’ve discussed over the past month are grounded in the lived experiences of those directly affected by poverty. Their expertise and insights are essential for driving real, lasting change. At EAPN, we believe in going beyond simply advocating for those experiencing poverty. We firmly support that people with lived experience hold the key and the voice to build a Europe free of poverty and must be at the forefront of the conversation. #EndPoverty #1710Campaign

Poverty continues to impact over 333 million children worldwide, denying them access to basic needs such as food, shelter, and education. Every child deserves the right to grow up free from poverty. Our efforts to end violence against children must also address the root causes, including economic inequality and deprivation. Let’s take collective action to lift children out of poverty. #EndChildPoverty #NoMorePoverty
