To the residents and citizens of our community, Upholding your civil rights and ensuring your safety remain my paramount concerns. With a steadfast dedication to truth, transparency, and accountability, I echo my unwavering commitment to ethical governance. Let there be no doubt: any conduct falling outside the bounds of legality, ethics, or morality is unacceptable and warrants immediate action. In a turn of events May of 2023, a decision by the new commission—with a 4/1 vote—resulted in the appointment of an individual to the position of police chief, a role for which they were notably unqualified. This decision has had tangible repercussions for our town, including the resignation of nearly half the department, the forfeiture of approximately $160,000 in grants and costly questionable administrative decisions that have undermined the core functions of our police department. Moreover, the current state of affairs has led to two of our officers being placed on administrative leave under circumstances that deserve scrutiny—one due to an alleged association with me, despite the chief's reluctance to reconsider their reinstatement, and another who bravely highlighted the chief being derelict of duty, especially in instances where our citizens' rights were compromised. Disturbingly, the officer implicated in violating citizens civil rights remains on active duty! In any other agency across the country, this officer would have been placed on administrative leave effective immediately pending investigation, but not here in Pembroke Park. Critics, including Jeff Weinsier, Channel 10, have been quick to place the blame squarely on my shoulders. However, the reality tells a different story—one where the responsibility lies with the four commissioners who supported this ill-advised appointment and are letting the town deteriorate. I stand alone in my efforts to rectify these wrongs and to safeguard the interests of our community. Your trust in me fuels my resolve to continue fighting for a municipal government that embodies integrity and the highest ethical standards.
