As we continue our series of stories from our sustainability report, Phoenix Design Aid would like to focus on our work with SDG 4: Quality Education, targets 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.7. We support the development of young talent and promote knowledge-sharing on topics related to sustainability and the SDGs. An example is our continuous support of the PDAid Foundation, which is a part of our certification in SDG target 4.3. In the reporting period, the PDAid Foundation expanded its impact: • A new board member and mentor joined our network • Mentees successfully completed the mentorship programme • Two new scholarship recipients began their educational journeys One of the latest recipients, Emmanuel Mtui, began studying English at Arusha Wisdom Training College in Kenya last year, where he is honing his skills in grammar and pronunciation and learning about cultural topics like the environment, society and food. Theme: From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development On this particular International Youth Day, we want to highlight the importance of education when considering the future of development for our youth. On a global level, education is still on the backburner when it comes to government investment and allocation of public funds. When we do not provide our children with a strong academic foundation, we cripple their ability to use the available technology efficiently and sustainably. Our greatest failure would be to raise a generation that can type but that cannot think critically, empathise with others and tackle complex ideas. Until we value education and invest in our young people the future of sustainable development will always hang in the balance. #internationalyouthday #isedafrica #isaschoolofeducation #sustainabledevelopment #SDG

SDGs, CSR and Education Ministries #Education runs through many #SDGs. Business is spending on education as part of CSR, & through H.R. and other areas. I see a lot of opportunity for improved impact and value if Education Ministries and industry can better coordinate and integrate education investments. Lots of room for synergy if approached strategically. Integrating #SDGs into their strategies would help develop that synergy and align and enhance social, business and environmental impact.
