Theme: From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development On this particular International Youth Day, we want to highlight the importance of education when considering the future of development for our youth. On a global level, education is still on the backburner when it comes to government investment and allocation of public funds. When we do not provide our children with a strong academic foundation, we cripple their ability to use the available technology efficiently and sustainably. Our greatest failure would be to raise a generation that can type but that cannot think critically, empathise with others and tackle complex ideas. Until we value education and invest in our young people the future of sustainable development will always hang in the balance. #internationalyouthday #isedafrica #isaschoolofeducation #sustainabledevelopment #SDG

The 2024 Sustainable Development Goals Report: Uninspiring Progress Toward SDG 4 - Quality Education 📚 The recently published Sustainable Development Goals Report for 2024 has delivered disappointing news: only 17% of SDG targets have been met, with just six years left until 2030. The COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing armed conflicts, and ecological crises have caused significant setbacks. SDG 4 – Quality Education is no exception. Since 2015, progress has slowed, and by 2019, only 58% of students globally achieved minimum literacy. Despite technological advancements, the education gap has widened, particularly affecting low-income countries. To accelerate progress, we need to prioritize early childhood education, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, and reduce the education gap between developed and developing nations. As emphasized in the report: “Education funding, teacher training, and inclusive, accessible schools are essential steps, along with leveraging technology and bridging the digital divide to achieve equitable access to quality education.” #SDGs #QualityEducation #GlobalGoals #Sustainability #EducationForAll

Improving education is crucial for inclusive and sustainable economic and social development Education is fundamental to the achievement of inclusive and sustainable economic and social development and more just and cohesive societies. Despite having made considerable strides in terms of education access, progression and completion, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean face a dual challenge: accelerating progress and reducing gaps in education coverage and completion rates while improving the quality and relevance of education. Gains in access to education and to technical and vocational training have failed to translate into the skills that students need to adapt to lifelong learning and retraining processes and find their place in a changing world pervaded by technology. Prolonged school closures during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic exacerbated these challenges. For education to recover, a profound transformation is required, one that ensures financial sustainability and strengthens the region’s institutional frameworks. https://lnkd.in/eX7RhEdP #SocialInclusion #SustainableDevelopment #ECLAC #LaborInnovation #SocialTransformation

Schools today often seem to prioritize lateral learning, with little focus on depth or real-world application. Curriculums and teaching methods are outdated, not reflecting the realities of the times we live in. How will you address the issue of superficial learning and ensure that education is more connected to real-world challenges and future needs? Additionally, with the growing awareness around neurodiversity, how will staff be better equipped to handle the diverse needs of students? In many schools, educators are expected to implement inclusive education without receiving the necessary training and support. How will this gap be addressed to ensure they are adequately prepared?
