Earlier in 2024, Auckland Transport introduced T2 lanes on Te Atatu Rd, in both directions, in a staged delivery. This is primarily to support the huge increase in bus volumes on Te Atatu Rd as part of the NW bus improvements. Public sentiment for these initiatives was not strong, with road users concerned about the impacts on congestion. Despite this feedback, AT went ahead with the changes on the basis of the productivity benefits. As this article shows, the results show benefits to all road users. As well as massive benefits to bus journey times, car users in both directions have also seen benefits. This demonstrates the benefits in sticking to well evidenced principles and evidence based transport planning. Ka pai!

The Committee for Sydney has put out an excellent report on the importance of buses for Sydney's future transport needs. As a Western Sydneysider, I rely on buses to get around, and the truth is it's often barely quicker than walking if your start and end locations are off the main routes. And the off-peak ones too often just don't show. The recommendations in this report are spot on. Each transport mode (even cars) has a role to play, but buses: 1. Can easily be rerouted, or services altered, to deal with changing needs 2. Are usually cheaper to run per passenger-km 3. Have a lot of potential for automation in years to come And don't get the attention they deserve. https://lnkd.in/gV4xdekt

Investing in affordable public transportation isn't just an expense—it's an investment in our people and the environment. Making it universally accessible ensures convenience for everyone, eliminating the hassle of queuing for discounted cards. A seamless, inclusive system benefits all. There can be categorisation, say the fastest train - e.g. rajdhanis/VandeBharat, may not be part of the scheme and pay market rates.

The much anticipated (English*) Devolution White Paper is published on Monday. * Will allow integrated contactless ticketing * End of two tier Country/District governance expected. End of districts councils? * Powers to run local railways to be devolved. " Mayors work in partnership with Great British Railways to develop systems to meet local, economic, educational and other needs. Let's continue to join the dots by adding housing high on the list of 'other needs'. Labour's target is 1.5m homes in five years. Those homes need to be in the right places - and building and densification around rail stations ticks so many boxes. There is a real opportunity to untap the potential of new housing and other developments around rail stations. TfL's property company Places for London is demonstrating how this sort of property development can be acheived London. Much work has already gone into identifying suitable locations. Russell Curtis, SLC Rail * This is not devolution as known in Scotland, Wales on NI.

4dCan the first news of 2025 please be CDTA connecting Warren County transit to Saratoga County and Albany County? It’s the obvious missing piece of your puzzle…. You didn’t put a bus in Amsterdam before you connected it to Albany & Schenectady so why bother buying Warren County to not connect to the rest of the system….? For starts connect the 405 to Wilton Mall For 450 & Northway Express. Next step return Park & Ride Northway Express to Warren County. Use a 560 style bus like Albany-Amsterdam Express Bus to cover South Glen Falls to Wilton and make it extend to Lake George Trolley in the summer. All that aside, you guys are awesome! Love the new Manning Station Hub, and use N. Allen/St Rose station daily. Please extend the 910 bus to 2am like the old 11 Bus used to pick up on Quail St at 2am. Some of us restaurant workers get out after midnight and 1:15 isn’t always enough time to walk to the station from wherever we are walking from. I just Barely made the 1:25am 910 final bus uptown last night from State & Pearl.
