The holidays are a season of giving and connection, and long-term care homes thrive on the kindness of their communities. Volunteers play a vital role in bringing joy and warmth to residents during this special time of year. Looking for a meaningful way to give back? Accepting death as a natural part of life may be one of the most difficult lessons we ever have to learn. But, as sure as we are born, the day will also come when our life will end. So, live life fully between those two moments because we only get one chance to write our life's story. "It takes a village to raise a child"—this timeless proverb speaks to the power of community. Whether you’re a foster carer, part of an organisation, or involved in your local community, we all have a role to play in supporting children in care. This communal care philosophy shaped fostering traditions long before formal systems existed, serving as a foundation for caregiving practices among Black families across the world. At BFCA, we’re exploring how fostering can be strengthened by the collective efforts of carers, organizations, and communities. How can we come together to provide the care and support that these children need? Let’s start the conversation. #BlackHistoryMonth #FosteringSupport #ItTakesAVillage #BFCA #CommunityCare"

It cannot be stressed enough that hospice care is a unique level of care for those facing a life-limiting illness who want to focus on comfort measures as they LIVE their remaining life. It is worth repeating...as they LIVE their remaining LIFE - not hours, but ideally months if not even years, prior to a natural death occurring. Dock Health COO Jonathan White shares about the #purposebeyondproductivity in his most recent blog: "We understand that empowering healthcare teams to work more effectively has a ripple effect – it allows them to focus on what truly matters: their patients and their purpose. Similarly, we believe that when our employees are empowered to engage with causes close to their hearts, the impact extends far beyond their individual actions." Today we remember a rising star who had her life cut short in tragic circumstances. It's hugely sad for a number of reasons. Clearly our thoughts go to her family. It also reminds us that violence against women and girls is an increasing problem, driven by the ill effects of social media and certain cultural trends. Something has to be done about this. I don't want a world where my daughters and their friends are more likely than not to suffer abuse and violence. One of the greatest areas of opportunity in the world today is improving girls and women's rights - to education, to whatever careers they want, to smash the glass ceiling and to not suffer from discrimination, sexism, bullying and violence. The world would be a much better place if it weren't dominated by sexism, misogyny, and prejudice perpetrated by a worryingly large number of men for far too long. The building materials industry lost someone who was a fantastic example of the positive change that the industry needs to embrace: more opportunities for young people and more opportunities for women. Today is hashtag #MaddiesDay, a day when the entire industry comes together and turns their social media channels yellow in celebration of the life of Maddie Rose, an incredible young woman who was passionate about the construction industry and the benefits it can offer young people. The hashtag #MaddieRoseCampaign aims to shine a spotlight on the incredible careers available in the supplier and merchanting sector, working through the Construction Youth Trust to inspire and enable young diverse talent to fulfil their full career potential - an initiative that the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants is honoured to support. Since the campaign launched it has raised over £170,000. If you would like to support the campaign by donating, you can do so through its JustGiving page at https://lnkd.in/eUSgQfkd. Your generosity enables the Construction Youth Trust to continue its remarkable work inspiring young people to pursue career opportunities in the supplier and merchanting sector. #buildingmaterials #buildingproducts #buildersmerchants #bathrooms #plumbingproducts #hire #rental #careeropportunities #recruitment #guarantees #equalopportunities #diversity

It’s #NationalVolunteerMonth! Looking for a small way to make a big impact in the life of a young person? You can support children and teenagers in #FosterCare by packing care kits, filled with daily essentials like shampoo and toothpaste ❤️ As children move from home to home in foster care, they often bring with them nothing but small bags to carry their belongings. Hygiene items are sometimes left behind. By sending a care kit, you will help a child feel seen and valued during a frightening time. Learn how: https://bit.ly/3TSxMti

🌟 A Fairer Future for Grandchildren and Grandcarers 🌟 Grandcarers are the quiet champions of our community, stepping in with courage and love to raise their grandchildren during times of need. Their resilience is unmatched, but their struggles are immense. Our new video shines a light on their strength and sacrifices, and why they urgently need our support. Together with Grandcarers WA, Wanslea is advocating for a Fairer Future for Grandchildren through these critical actions: 1️. Significant Increase to Grandcare Support Scheme Payments – Reflecting the real costs of raising a child. 2. New Case Management Support Service – $650k annually to assist Grandcarers facing complex challenges. 3. Dedicated Grandcarer Consultant – within the Department of Communities worker to provide consistency of advice for Grandcarers'. 4️. Increased Funding for Grandcare Program – $500k annually to meet growing demand and ensure sustainability. 💛 Take a moment to watch, share, and stand with Grandcarers. Let’s ensure there is equality for the grandchildren they care for. 📽️ https://lnkd.in/gnSkcNGf #UnsungHeroes #FairerFuture #SupportGrandcarers #AdvocacyMatters
