Barbara and Dana and their daughters, Hannah and Maya, are better together 💙 “Our three boys were grown when we decided to add to our family,” said Barbara. “We felt we still had a lot to give.” When they began the adoption process, they thought that their family would grow by one. Through the Foundation’s Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program, Barbara and Dana met Hannah and Maya, who needed a safe, loving and permanent home. The couple recognized the importance of keeping the girls together and chose to make both of them a part of their family. If you also feel like you could offer a child in foster care a safe, loving and permanent home, read our Step-by-Step Guide to Adoption: https://lnkd.in/gi-AZSSq 📸: babsnotstreistand (IG)

Forever Families for Children in Foster Care
About us
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions of children waiting in North America's foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs and builds awareness around the growing need and importance of foster care adoption in various ways. We also develop resources for employers and families to support the adoption journey. Through our signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation provides grants to adoption agencies to hire and train recruiters in our child-focused recruitment model to find loving, permanent homes for children in foster care. This model is up to three times more effective at serving children who have been in foster care the longest, including older youth, siblings and children with special needs. The Foundation offers a free library of resources to help families navigate the adoption journey, such as Finding Forever Families: A Step-by-Step Guide to Adoption and Strengthen Your Forever Family: A Step-by-Step Guide to Post-Adoption. The Foundation also works to build awareness around the growing need and importance of adoption from foster care through public service announcements, social media campaigns, articles, events, sponsorships and more.

Felicia, an employee at Bank of America, considered adoption for years. The opportunity finally presented itself when she and her partner, Ruth, were introduced to three sisters in need of a #ForeverFamily. Felicia vividly remembers the instant connection she felt with the siblings and knew early on they were meant to be a family. After getting to know the sisters better, Felicia and Ruth decided to become their foster parents, and they officially became a family. Throughout the adoption process, Felicia turned to her employer for support. Bank of America offers a Family Planning Reimbursement Program, which helped Felicia with the legal fees associated with the siblings’ adoption. “An important part of Bank of America’s commitment to be a Great Place to Work is providing benefits and resources that support our employees during moments that matter, like becoming a parent,” said Kate Phillips, Head of Global Benefits. Kayla and her husband, Jerad, weren’t sure what their journey of becoming foster parents would bring. They certainly didn’t anticipate welcoming five children into their forever family! But a sibling group of five children, ranging from ages 2 to 13, captured their hearts. Now, four years later, Kayla shares her story to encourage other parents on their own adoption and foster care journeys. 📸: MakingTheMoffitts (IG) Read her guest blog: https://lnkd.in/gQWGTDhs
