So I mapped Jamie Mill's Elements of Production Design to Jesse James Garrett's (2000) The Elements of User Experience and then interpreted this into a simple graph to illustrate the differences in terms of emphasis on user needs, goals, pain points and experience. This shows the dramatic change in emphasis and focus over the last 20 years.
