Your users know best - if you’re asking the right ones. When collecting user feedback, it's easy to fall into common traps, such as relying on feedback from insiders, UX experts, or even synthetic models. Each brings inherent biases that can skew your understanding of real user experiences. To get more reliable data, focus on feedback from neutral, everyday users who interact with your product naturally. Here's how to do it right! https://lnkd.in/eP-JQvjg #UserFeedback #UX #CustomerResearch #CustomerInsights

As UX researchers, we are always taught that empathy is a principle in human-centred design. But what about situations where emotions impact users' rational behaviour? In September 2023, Tiziana d’Agostino discussed the psychological principles used in human-centred design to tackle these issues. What Usability Tests Avoid...1 I've been reminding dejected UXers recently that even when UX is undermined, usurped, research is avoided or cut short, Usability Testing is always there to catch the problems, show that research was essential and prove the issues to the decision makers before it goes live. But what happens if you don't usability test? Well there's nothing better than visual examples of what goes wrong when you don't or can't (Figma) usability test, so I thought I'd do a short series of "What Usability Tests Avoid" #UsabilityTesting #ux #seanmcsharry #uxsanctuary

🔍 I recently stumbled upon a great visual reminder that user research is a part of every stage in the design thinking process, showing how integral it is to our work as UX designers. One of my favorite parts of the process is organizing knowledge and creating information architecture through activities like card sorting and mind mapping. 🗂️🧠 It feels like solving a complex Sudoku puzzle, where each piece clicks into place to form a clear and user-friendly structure. These tasks not only help me better understand user needs but also ensure that the final product is intuitive and engaging. Do you have a favorite stage in the design thinking process? I'd love to hear about it! #UXDesign #UserResearch #DesignThinking #InformationArchitecture #CardSorting #MindMapping #UXLife
