The cooperation also includes a non-binding letter of intent for the offtake of 100,000 tons annually of ammonia produced exclusively with renewable energy including energy from pumped storage projects from AM Geen’s plants in different locations in India. AM Green’s vision of deepening capabilities in #downstream value chains of green molecules is core to this partnership with BASF. This partnership envisages to cater to multiple chemical downstream and associated consumer industries by providing key green molecule feedstocks to chemicals, #materials, and products in the markets. #BASF and AM Green Enter MoU to Jointly Evaluate Opportunities in #Low-Carbon Chemicals PUdaily | Updated: October 29, 2024 BASF and AM Green B.V. have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly evaluate and develop business opportunities for low-carbon chemicals produced exclusively with renewable energy, and the corresponding value chains in India. Dr. Markus Kamieth, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, and Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Green, signed the agreement in the context of the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 hosted in New Delhi, India. Under the MoU, BASF and AM Green intend to conduct feasibility studies on low-carbon chemicals production in India including a joint evaluation of potential technologies. The cooperation also includes a non-binding letter of intent for the offtake of 100,000 tons annually of ammonia produced exclusively with renewable energy including energy from pumped storage projects from AM Green’s plants in different locations in India. This ammonia will meet EU standards for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) as defined in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III). Some of AM Green’s facilities have already been pre-certified for RFNBO compliance through the CertifHyTM voluntary certification scheme. Pre-certification for AM Green’s other facilities is currently underway. “We are committed to the sustainable transformation of the industries we serve. 🌿🏭 Transforming the Chemical Industry Germany is at the forefront of reducing carbon footprints in the chemical sector. As Siemens Energy we are leading the way with the #H2annibal project at Evonik in #Germany. This project aims to produce #GreenHydrogen and oxygen on-site using renewable energy, replacing fossil chemicals in the production of raw materials, among other applications. Key Facts about the #ChemicalIndustry in Germany: With a 2023 turnover of €225.5 billion, chemicals and pharmaceuticals are the third-largest industry in Germany, behind automotive and machinery and equipment.    Germany is the largest chemical producer in Europe, accounting for 32% of the European chemical market.  The industry employs around 480,000 people.  The chemical industry is one of the most research-intensive sectors in Germany, with over €14 billion spent on research and development every year.  Major chemical sites in Germany are interconnected through an advanced network of pipelines transporting raw materials such as propylene, ethylene, and crude oil.  The H2annibal project is expected to eliminate approximately 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually for Evonik, serving as a model for renewable hydrogen production in chemical parks and adapting to real-world demands. BASF SE and AM Green Group recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (#MoU) to jointly assess and develop #opportunities in #lowcarbon chemical production powered exclusively by #renewableenergy in India. The MoU was signed by Dr Markus Kamieth, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF SE, and @Mahesh Kolli, Group President, AM Green, at Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 held in New Delhi lately. The partnership outlines a plan for #feasibility studies on low-carbon #chemicalproduction, focusing on evaluating the #technologies required to achieve #sustainableproduction goals. The companies have included a non-binding letter of intent in the MoU, which sets a preliminary agreement for BASF SE to secure an annual supply of 100,000 tons of #ammonia produced entirely from #renewableenergysources, including pumped storage projects across AM Green’s facilities. The renewable ammonia is expected to comply with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive (#REDIII) standards, which define #renewablefuels of non-biological origin (#RNBO). AM Green’s existing plants have received pre-certification under the CertifHy EU RFNBO Scheme, a European Voluntary Scheme, and efforts are ongoing to extend this certification to other facilities. Dr Kamieth expressed confidence that #India provides the right setting for low-carbon chemical production in partnership with AM Green. Kolli noted that the collaboration aligns with AM Green’s focus on expanding green molecule production, which would support BASF SE’s efforts to supply important #greenmaterials for various chemical and consumer markets.
