In 2014 my two buddies Phil "Pimp" Freeman (USAF) and Boris Said made me aware that Bill Simpson (Simpson Racing) had a desire to sell his (and Chip Ganassi's) helmet company (SG Helmets). Eventually, we consummated purchasing the assets in late 2018. This facilitated one of the most challenging, expensive (money/time/emotion), and barrier filled journeys I have been involved in... We make the best helmets in the world and we have for several years. The NFL being one of the biggest global brands has had head injury challenges and instituted various testing that precluded revolutionary technology from getting onto the field in the hopes of maximizing current technologies... That has started to change. LIGHT builds helmets that perform extremely well on the test, but we focus on what works in the real world. Our technology is derived from the unforgiving environments of the battle field and race track. Through a supportive group of investors, family, current/former players, friends, and others that see the value in world's greatest game, we finally and formally stuck our flag into the ground as one of only four companies on the globe that can supply helmets. Taking care of baseball players is one of my passions. This is a niche practice that involves managing expectations for the players, coaches, parents and even agents. In addition there are so many considerations that go into the right treatment options, many of which only apply to these players and the torque placed on the arm during throwing. I frequently get second opinions regarding both shoulder and elbow injuries in baseball players. Yesterday we completed a successful UCL repair with an internal brace on a young baseball player from Taiwan. By offering my online second opinion we reviewed his images, previous treatment and saved him from a full UCL reconstruction in Taiwan as he had a very repairable UCL injury. After my online evaluation his family made the long flight out here for a successful Arthrex UCL repair with internal brace to help him get back to baseball faster than traditional UCL reconstruction.  My office team did a great job of coordinating his care and despite the jet lag he was in good spirits with a successful surgery! Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle we continue to offer cutting edge care to the surrounding Seattle area and beyond. When you buy a gallon of milk at the grocery store, you expect to know what it's going to cost before you drink it. Before you buy a house, you expect to know how much it's going to cost before you move in. I would argue that food and shelter are even more critical than the healthcare needs of most people, and yet we settle for the surprise bills (that are now illegal) rather than demanding that information up front.
