Celebrating Youth Apprenticeship Week! This week, we're spotlighting the transformative power of youth apprenticeships and their potential to shape the future workforce. As we champion this invaluable initiative, let's also address the critical need for expanding opportunities for underserved populations. Youth apprenticeships offer a unique pathway for young individuals to gain hands-on experience, earn while they learn, and kickstart rewarding careers. However, it's essential to ensure that these opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance. Expanding youth apprenticeship opportunities for underserved populations is not just a goal; it's a moral imperative. By breaking down barriers and creating inclusive programs, we can empower every young person to thrive and succeed in the workforce. Join us in advocating for equal access to youth apprenticeships, promoting diversity and equity in the workplace, and building a brighter future for all. Together, we can make a difference and unlock the full potential of our youth. #YouthApprenticeshipWeek #EqualOpportunity #Inclusion #YouthEmpowerment

It’s still Youth Apprenticeship week! A lot of times I get told by my friends “Honestly, I’m not really sure what you do for work?”. I never know how to respond to that statement. There’s so many layers to the work my team and I do and there’s no way to summarize it all without prompting more and more clarifying question. I am Career Launch Chicago’s Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator. To keep it short: I support a cohort of Youth Apprentices from the beginning through the end of their apprenticeship cycle. To make it long: - I speak with school admin and students to recruit for our pathways - I work with students to prepare them for their interviews with our employer partners - I support our summer preparatory program (Aim to Launch) - I check in with students throughout their apprenticeship to ensure everything is going as smoothly as possible (and to hold them accountable when needed) - I conduct site visits to our students places of work (and track their progress as they attain new skills) - I help lead our GPEAK curriculum (teach employability skills, brought to us by EdSystems) - I make connections and try my best to make sure they feel supported in their new roles while also completing their senior year of high school - And most importantly I celebrate in all their accomplishments with them! And trust me there are so many accomplishments! I am nearing the completion of my first year on the team and I like to say I *also* was a part of Career Launch Chicago’s second cohort. As much as students turned to me for guidance and support, I turned to my team for 5x the amount of support as I learned the work. Take a small look at everyone who has been there this past year and all the cool things our Youth apprentices and the team have gotten to experience. Some of our students are moving into four year institutions, some are moving into a second year of their apprenticeship, and some are even pursuing FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT with their employer!

Happy National Apprenticeship Week! This week, from Nov. 17-23, 2024, we celebrate 10 Years of Engagement, Expansion, and Innovation with the 10th Annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW)! Registered Apprenticeships play a vital role in Missouri, creating career pathways, fostering racial and gender equity, and building a highly skilled workforce that drives our economy forward. In Missouri, Registered Apprenticeships are a cornerstone of the construction industry, offering hands-on experience, classroom training, and a direct path to good-paying, family-sustaining careers. With over 332,000 construction apprentices nationwide, this model continues to thrive in the Show-Me State, equipping the next generation with the tools to succeed. 🔑 Why Registered Apprenticeships Matter: ✔️ They provide career seekers with a clear route to success. ✔️ They strengthen industries by addressing critical workforce needs. ✔️ They promote equity by creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, including women, people of color, youth, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. 🌟 Missouri's Impact: ✔️Thousands of apprentices in construction and emerging industries. ✔️A growing number of programs supporting workforce diversity. ✔️Local partnerships driving awareness and opportunities statewide. Join us this week as we celebrate daily themes, including Youth Apprenticeships, Expanding Equity, and Women in Apprenticeship. Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for Missouri and beyond. #NAW2024 #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #CCDI #ConstructionCareers #DecadeOfNAW #ApprenticeshipUSA!
